It’s my very personal opinion, but we’re light-years away from the wonderful Imaginary Sonicscape! Honestly, I didn't expect something like this, but something more imaginative and... daring from these Japanese!
well beyond adequate, I don't give the highest rating because unfortunately I have a serious bias against this type of album which in my opinion isn't really worth reviewing, but it's just my prejudice :)
No way, I think you're right. At this point, I don't even listen to this stuff anymore. I have to say I listened to it because Imaginary Sonicscape was a great album (then if you really don’t like metal it's a different story) and because I read about David Tibet's collaboration. For now, I’m really into industrial music & co.
let's say that I just can't stand death, black, and brutal... I tried to make myself enjoy something by digging here and there, but I couldn't find anything at all :)
I don't like brutal either; I'd prefer grindcore if I really had to choose. But if you can't stand the powerful growl... I wouldn't recommend grindcore either (which, by the way, isn't exactly metal). As for black metal, even though it's a difficult and sometimes detestable genre, I will always love Bergtatt (black with folk passages) by Ulver (my favorite band, which now plays avant-garde, trip-hop, electronic stuff...).
