a good "pen" we found :)...well done! but why aren't there half votes here on debaser? Anyway, let's round up :) I don't generally like them, but since I haven't listened to this album, I can't express myself.
Congratulations, very good feedback. I'm not familiar with this album, but I've heard a lot of their work and I believe that the ones after At War With Satan are underrated. Maximum respect for a band that laid the foundations of extreme metal.
I've never listened to Venom attentively, but they deserve the utmost respect for what they've done in their career, despite their technical skills being nearly at zero. What Emanuele says is true, Debaser has gained an excellent reviewer. Well done.
@IcnarF: What do you mean by "Ah! Is it a merit?" Of course it is! Without Venom, I don't know what music Slayer, Metallica, Megadeth, Sodom, Mayhem, Kreator, Burzum, Emperor and the like would have played!
Without Venom, rock today would be way more posh. Imagine there's no metal and all rock bands look like British posers like Oasis, Franz Ferdinand, Good Charlotte, and the billions and billions of pseudo-alternative/shit rock bands that have nothing to do with rock!!!!! THANK YOU, CHRONOS!!!!!
thirdworldchaos you really like Sepultura, right???? I have a friend who is a true fanatic!!!!! He can even appreciate something from post-Root, can you believe it!!!!! hahahah
I love Sepultura, they’re my favorite band along with Slayer. From the post-Roots era, I like "Against" for its strong hardcore vibe; the rest isn’t that impressive. But above all, I adore the great Cavalera, an idol. I love ALL his albums, all the Sepultura ones up to "Roots", all the Soulfly albums (great band despite the unfair criticism), and "Point Blank" by Nailbomb (a huge project). Anyway, I agree with psycroptic THANK YOU CRONOS! Without you, we would all be less raw and ignorant (in the good sense)!
@ThirdWorldChaos: Not only Sepultura, listing the bands that have been inspired by Venom would mean filling this page with who knows how many Kbs. Venom are the masters of extreme metal and, along with Slayer, Bathory, Mercyful Fate, and Celtic Frost, represent the quintet that gave rise to this plethora of extreme bands from the mid-'80s onwards.
Unusual, calm. Due to this indirect way of communicating, it happens that one can form wrong ideas about certain people. To me, for example, from your comments (I returned your courtesy and went to read yours) and, above all, from your reviews, you seem to me like the usual fanatic wanker of "The Dark Side of the Moon." Without, but also with, offense.
Ah, I see who you are! You're the one who got offended by my comment about Neu! or Faust, I think. Don't worry, anyone who doesn't listen to your music is an ignoramus. The "de gustibus" can go screw itself. I repeat, don’t worry.
For your information, I listen to everything; from jazz, to blues, to rock, to KRAUTROCK, to punk, to rap, to soul, to new age, and so on. You're the one who's limited, you dickhead.
I would say that it’s pure bullshit for someone to make those kinds of comments. Come on. And if Franci thinks that kraut is a genre you listen to just to show off, then lucky him for being so ignorant... he’ll have time to figure it out. I hope for his sake. HERE’S MY THOUGHT. So I can say that if you listen to that stuff, Avenged Sevenfold, you’re just a jerk following trends. I DON’T THINK SO. Come on. I’m not saying that if you don’t listen to kraut you’re a jerk, but if you don’t understand it, then don’t talk about it like it’s some crap for oldies who have nothing to do and listen to this kind of music to boast. It may be music for intellectuals, that’s true. And so what? Stay ignorant then, damn it! It’s also true that you’re young and we’ve all said stupid things. Plus, I prefer the psychedelic and minimalist Floyd of Barrett. But I also like the post-Syd Floyd. Any problem?
"Maximum respect for a band that has laid the foundations of extreme metal." Ah! Is that a merit?>> Can you explain this question of yours, if you feel like it? I'm interested. Thanks. Because it sounds so much like... ahh
You are absolutely right about the album in question. It seems that metal enthusiasts have come to believe that all the albums post "At War With Satan" by Venom are pure trash, which is not always true. There have certainly been some missteps, but some works have proven to be quite valid, just like the one you reviewed. I appreciated the extreme calmness and serenity of judgment in the review, a rare commodity here on Debaser. Resurrection is a good album, nothing transcendent, mind you, but at least it is terribly honest. Not listening to it out of pure prejudice is quite silly. Personally, Pandemonium and especially Leviathan crack me up.
