Well! I don't know. I'm not saying anything because, perhaps mistakenly, this is a band I've always disregarded. Today, at 50, I realize that I need to catch up on some works I've deliberately ignored in the past. Let's see. Bye
A tremendous return for Journey with this "Revelation." It feels like being back in their golden age... from "Departure" to "Frontiers." The tracks are energetic and excellently played (I won’t give it the highest rating just because, as usual for this band, there's a bit too much 'sugar' for my tastes). I also want to highlight, like the reviewer, the excellent instrumental that closes CD1. - A great credit to the band is their choice of a young and unknown singer (instead of opting for a peer whose vocal cords are probably semi-destroyed)... who has the 'small advantage' of possessing a voice remarkably similar to Steve Perry's: I believe that CD2, featuring old classics re-recorded by the new lineup, was specifically included to emphasize this strong vocal affinity.
I mean... well, young man: he's not as young as I thought, I'm just now noticing he's 41! Let's say 'younger than the others'. I'm not trying to say that people in their forties are old, mind you... hehehe!
I can't see the album because I didn't even know it existed; I'll try to get it even though the nostalgia for Steve Perry is strong. A remarkable band, anyway. Yes, "Taurus," "Any Way You Want It" was one of their biggest hits, around 1980. But they've been around even before that. DON'T STOP BELIEVING!!! Neal Schon is amazing, even before with Santana, then with Bad English and many other projects.
Perhaps (actually definitely), their best thing after Steve Perry's exit. An album that draws a bit from "Departure" and "Escape," perhaps their best from the '80s / '81. Pineda's voice is a cloning of Perry's. For those interested, also listen to "Infinity" (1978) and "Trial by Fire" (1996), the last album with Perry on vocals, which in my opinion is splendid and different from the usual Journey style.
