I've heard about them, and obviously with the usual definitions: "New best thing," "The new Franz Ferdinand" (are we already talking about successors??? The miracles of the press...), comparisons to famous bands from the past, etc. I wonder: are they really as good as they say, or are they simply musical products, created for the use and consumption of masses of youngsters who don't want to dig through the records of the past and want "everything right now"? Even the cleanliness of the sound feels too polished for post-modern pop, I don't know... Some bands from this revival wave I honestly don’t mind (Interpol and Strokes, especially those from the early albums), but others like Killers, Libertines, and Franz Ferdinand I'd flush down the toilet and pull the chain... However, the review rocks, great job! :DDD
thank you;)) the album is indeed well made for the kids you're talking about. It’s an honest album but nothing more. If you really want one of the best new wave rock albums of the past season, look for "Up All Night" by Razorlight, which I think is worth it.
Sure, I'll make a note of them ;) I've just come out of a phase of total immersion in post-core and related genres (Neurosis, Isis, Burst, Burnt By The Sun, Cult Of Luna, Poison The Well, Envy, Buried Inside, Converge and the like...) and I'm slowly trying to detox, maybe I'll start with these guys :DD
Hi Giov, two recs in such a short time! I might give them a listen, but I doubt they’ll say much to me, especially if you say they were really hyped by NME. Bye.
Zion: trust me! mark it down, then we'll talk about it later (at first I didn’t like Up All Night, but then, after listening to it closely, I got hooked on it every day) M.Primavera: hehe no no, it’s not that I was bored, I just wrote for emotionalbreakdown since September, I missed debaser a bit and I came back, waiting for them to open an indie-alternative rock section on emotional with some guts (which I believe they will do soon). I think I’ll go back there and then maybe come back here and then maybe... and so on... Psycho: you really don’t like these at all. Stay away from them. Say hi to your wonderful region for me ;)
Guys, sorry.....maybe people are sleeping, they don't realize this album, which is too cool, too much of a miracle, so it can't be good, read between the notes and rhythms of Bloc Party's songs. This is the story.....diversivo? This is the story.............
resentful for good.... relegated to oblivion, only the Maximo Park bore me more.... unfortunately, I can't grasp the lyrics if the music leaves me indifferent.
See, I was right, wasn’t I?!?! ;)) And what about the overly hyped Departure, the most cringe-worthy '80s band of this year that not even their mothers will remember in a month? Instead, take my advice and go for a listen, even if it's "with a light heart" (which translated means maybe download something first), to the new albums by the Warlocks or the BRMC. Cheers!
Hey Giov, have you seen the review they're doing of the latest Warlocks (but it’s not the first one that tears them apart) on Pitchfork? Saying they go hard is an understatement; they describe them as drooling idiots with soiled pants... Anyway, I’m happy to listen to Phoenix again in the end. Bye!
Overrated - it's always the same fashionable junk with Charleston vibes and a nu-wave spirit killed by Converse and distressed jeans. Something deeper and more original is needed.
I’ve only heard one song by this band, and it was my friend who made me listen to it. So I shouldn’t really judge at all. But this song "The Pioneers" is truly beautiful.
Helicopter spakka ...Giov, you're becoming my idol, grreeeeeeeeeeeaaaattttttttttttttttt tt! I'm just a teenage dirtbag baby... listen to Iron Maiden baby (Wheatus), legendary '90s... Gio, do you like it? Beeeellaaaaaa!
