Ok, I have to admit it: Verdena is pure energy! This is what comes out at the first listen (and not only) of their second volume "Endkadenz Vol. 2," part of a unique project that had two phases of publication (the second volume was released at the end of August 2015, after the first volume "Endkadenz Vol. 1" was published at the beginning of the same year).
Between ballads and more intricate tracks, Verdena manages to maintain a balanced compromise between a mad rocking style, on one hand, and a more psychedelic one, on the other. The illogical alternation of words, in almost indecipherable lyrics, is supported by a rhythmic canvas of great impact and vigor.
The album opens with one of the most intriguing tracks of the album, "Cannibale"; the strength of the title is explanatory of the almost furious explosion of such an overwhelming musical blast. A succession of disruptive beats that consumes, which won me over from the start.
"Un blu sincero" is, to use the words of the same Bergamasque group, "an illogical saying," transposed onto the musical plane. This is exactly what is evoked by this track, in which different musical levels alternate, naturally yet at the same time disjointed and mad. The words "mad" and "immense" that often intertwine in the album's tracks are not chosen by chance. Both evoke what Verdena manages to do very well: create full and impetuous tracks that bring abstraction from reality ever closer and possible.
Another noteworthy track is "Troppe scuse," with a very particular soul, enough to deserve a spot on the podium of my favorite tracks, along with the first two tracks already mentioned. There are no excuses not to appreciate a brilliant track like this.
In short, Verdena knows how to handle guitars and drums, perhaps less with the pen, but who says a container without content is not still appreciable? After all, if one really wanted to stay on a purely instrumental level, who says rock is just noise would have plenty for their ears because more noise like this is exactly what's needed!
