My sad heart slobbers at the stern,
my heart covered in scraps:
upon it splatter soup's drips,
my sad heart that slobbers at the stern:
beneath the vile jests of the troops
who burst into general laughter,

Itifallici and soldierly,
their insults have depraved it!
And in the evening they paint frescoes
