Beginning of the new millennium; the disorienting Turks (mamma li turchi I add) are ready for their recording comeback.

It's the fifth album from the crazy band coming from Columbus, Ohio; the usual quartet of goofballs who love Rock'n'Roll, bursts at a thousand miles an hour, Punk played at full throttle. They don't change their rude and vicious musical approach one bit; with a recording quality significantly improved compared to the beginnings of the early nineties. The same can't be said from a technical point of view, which remains very rudimentary; after all, what should we expect from a band that has always given its best live with performances that are nothing short of volcanic?

So, no kind of innovation, no kind of technicality: Nightmare Scenario is an album that tears you in two. From the first to the last note.

They decide to move to Detroit for the recording of the album; four days and the work is already considered finished.

In recent months, before embarking on the quick work for the recording comeback, they've shared the stage with the Hellacopters (with whom they've also recorded a split-single), undergoing the influence of the Swedes and their sound much more oriented towards the Garage. A kind of return to the raw and caustic sounds of the debut !!Destroy-Oh-Boy!!

In other words: the New Bomb Turks still hit like di-sgraziati.

There is an important novelty in the lineup: drummer Bill Randt decides to give way to Sam Brown. But you don’t notice the change during the half hour and a bit more of the album; same fiery drumming, same minimal technique. Sam has a face like a mugshot: a perfect image that pairs perfectly with the manic singer Eric, the chubby Jim on guitar, and the schizophrenic Matt on bass.

A dozen smelly, totally Punk songs are produced this way.

And with each new listen, given the excessive volume I force myself to keep, the ear cups ring and a heavy migraine rears its head.

For once, mentioning even a single track is unnecessary.

Ad Maiora.

.

This is more than enough for me.

01   Point A to Point Blank (02:39)

02   Automatic Teller (02:42)

You're the first to point your finger
The first to take my cash.
You hit the p.i.n.
and I'm-a lose my stash.
When I said "bank on me"
should've set interest.
Well my interest has waned,
my interest is spent.

Y'know you always come running
every payday.
But your circuits are down
when my wallets empty.
You're 24 hours of plastic clash.
Clock's running out
this bull's gotta crash.

Yeah there's nothing left to say,
automatic teller.

You're aim is always true
when you're crying "stick 'em up!"
But your vision is off
when the check comes up.
But now the jig is up,
your plan's been hatched.
A botched burglary,
a slack safe crack.

The merger didn't work.
The buyout never came.
My stock's rising,
I'm off the window pane.
Your bargain hunting days
are growing short.
You tried to break my bank,
Now I'll break your heart.
