Here I am again among you, colleagues!
Months of absence... but nothing has changed... except for the worse.
I didn't know Nails until a few days ago. I read a review on the homepage, I think from the islander sfasciacarrozzerie... and I saw the light, or rather the darkest and blackest shadows.
I did some research, and listened carefully to the first two works of the American band.
Abandon All Life is the second album, from 2013.
Two facts might already suffice: 10 tracks for 17 minutes.
Produced, and you can absolutely hear it, by Kurt Ballou of Converge.
Take equal parts of the following sacred names: Napalm Death, Converge (given what I wrote above), Entombed, and Nasum. You end up with a bloody, terrifying mess that literally steamrolls you.
It's hard to tell when one track ends and another begins; there's not a single second of respite. And in an instant you're at the end, dazed, exhausted. Even for someone like me, accustomed for decades, who has been feeding on these UltraGrind sounds for decades.
Doom-like slowdowns can be heard in the final track; for the rest, it’s a barrage of primal, blind, furious violence.
Barrages of a heaviness that goes beyond, that pushes beyond the limits of human endurance. A voice stretched, torn, that regurgitates an amount of words incomprehensible to my damned and battered auditory system. Inhuman drums; guitars imploding, spreading destruction, sadistic panic.
A Tabula Rasa that leaves no survivors...
But I emerge regenerated... and in pieces...
Diabolos Rising 666.
