“ …I just could not put down my telescope anynore and kept imagining my teeth breaking. I was having violent dreams where me and the other kids would commit horrible acts and then run away in guilty…”

A shadow has fallen over the fantastic world of múm. We no longer find the carefree songs of these strange elves nor the rich landscapes so colorful and full of life from the fantastic world of “Finally we are no-one”. Instead, we find these same creatures emerging only at night to sing melancholic songs by candlelight, surrounded by great darkness. Is it the endless Icelandic winter? Is it a war? Either way, a hopeful « Summer make good » rises, to invoke the summer sun to sweep away all evils.

The enchanting voice of Kristin Anna accompanies us in intimate and delicate stories of love and isolation, taking us by the hand and leading us into a dense fog. Ghosts appear, visions of other times, heartbreaking memories of the past, generated by the minimal electronics of laptops, combined with the typical and « folk » instruments used by múm.
We are led into a sad and resigned world, but ostentatiously romantic and deep.

Compared to « Finally We Are No-one », this « Summer Make Good » is a much more personal and intimate album, for which I believe some will be disappointed not to find certain carefree atmospheres and the decidedly more pop appeal of the previous album. The rest will remain in love with this crazy, original band of Icelandic elves.

we row, we row, we row towards it
Oh how the wave breaks on your body

10   Small Deaths Are the Saddest (01:30)

11   Will the Summer Make Good for All of Our Sins? (04:02)

Please don't cry for hammer in your teeth
We'll spoil the pretty snow that lies beneath
Who go cry for hammer in her teeth
We'll spoil her pretty face at least she feels real
No-go cry for hammer in your teeth
We'll spoil the pretty snow that never feels real

Breathe, you breathe
believe you me tonight
breath in, breath out
make good, make float
bleed you me
_ ntt

Please don't cry for hammer in your teeth
We'll spoil the pretty snow that lies beneath
And summer will make good for all of our sins
if we only wish it hard enough

Breathe, you breathe
who go who cry
believe you me
to night/mm night
Breathe in, breathe out
make good, make float
bleed you me
_ ntt

Sh cry, who closes eyes and hopes not to come back

12   Abandoned Ship Bells (05:03)

Come little ship bells
Where are you
I just want to say "how are you"
Come here
Red raindrops
Where are you
Bells, where are you
Come to me
Your bells seem to find you
But where are you
Your bells seem to find you

Icelandic musicians seem to act unbounded by any contamination, resulting in a kind of dadaism and experimentation hard to match.

I imagine sitting by the window of my little house in Reykjavik, watching the snow mixed with rain fall outside, enjoying a cinnamon tea.

With them I enter a dream of music.

In my opinion, Múm create pure poetry.

Listening seems to see grassy blankets, glaciers, and puddles.

'Summer Make Good' actually sounds sadder and more introspective than previous records.
