A nice debut from Mr Kite, a band from Brianza active for as many as 8 years but choosing to release their debut album only now... A well-timed decision. Indeed, because the band shows they already have all it takes to compete on a national level. There's a good cohesion between the sounds and vocals. The lyrics could improve, but they are already of a good standard. The ability to write catchy melodies is there, and it's certainly something not everyone possesses. Of course, the melancholy, which feeds both the stories and the atmosphere of the album, probably won't open doors to some talent shows. But the path is clearly not the one Mr Kite aspires to. Mr Kite has its roots deep in English pop. They cite the Smiths, surely not the Backstreet Boys... And so, this good debut album is a great stepping stone for even more engaging albums to come... and why not, even more "bitter sweet," between pop and melancholy.
Good luck Mr Kite.
