Margaret: "Cromoliquido".
After a useful four-year break, the indie rock of Margaret reemerges. The first work titled "Tra una pallida calma" released in 2005 and produced by Amaury Cambuzat was a twilight and very dark album. Many times it reminded us of much of the music represented by bands from the "alternative" scene, which is no longer part of the Italian scene.
"Cromoliquido" leaves us stunned at the first listen:
Let's say right away that there's very little indie left, the almost entirely Turin-based band returns with a renewed lineup and a truly devastating rock sound. In the new formation, we have Matteo Dainese (Ulan Bator, Djlite, Il moro e il quasi biondo...) on drums and Alessandro Branciforti on bass. The new tracks represent a mature shift from what we were used to hearing from the band, the 10 tracks of the album sound warm, gritty, and powerful. "Cromoliquido" is an example of rock reemerging in inexplicable times like these, but Fabio Cubisino, Fabrizio Dell'Aiera & C. have found the perfect course and a personality entirely their own. What we knew of the quartet no longer has anything to do with this new work, a new band that only carries the name forward without losing originality, but unhesitatingly distancing itself from all the clichés.
An album that cannot be missing from your "Indie" collection.
