❝ The alternation between Petrucciani’s ever-emotional piano and Miller's precise bass pulse is, in fact, a real pleasure, as are Garrett's sax forays.
❝ M2, an album released in 2001, winner of a Grammy award, represents the pinnacle of Miller's most mature and prolific phase;
❝ This album represents everything that is Miller's music, it is and remains his most beautiful record, and it is certainly one of the greatest fusion releases ever.
❝ “Tucson, Arizona.”
❝ “At the remarkable milestone of their tenth studio album, Burns and Convertino do not relent and gift us yet another little gem in their discography.”
❝ “The new album by Calexico is immediately set to be one of the greatest disappointments of the year 2018.”
❝ three and a half hours of "Total Music," free, wild, without limits and patterns.
❝ The Mars Volta are without a doubt one of the greatest novelties in the current global Rock scene.
❝ I belong to a third group: "A nail right in the face for me"
❝ Claustrophobia.
❝ Portishead's "Third" disconcerts, and immerses the beloved and iconographic sound of the Bristol trio in dark/industrial waters.
❝ It's like being in Chicago in the '30s, with too much LSD in your system.
❝ The trio crafted a jazz fusion work that satisfies both the musician and/or enthusiast attentive to technical details and the more casual listener in search of a catchy tune.
❝ Every moment of this "Nocturne" (2001) is the product of a perfectly successful fusion between jazz technique and Latin creativity, in this case Cuban and Mexican.
❝ A metaphorically perfect record.
❝ A mesmerizing record.
❝ “It's like when you light the zarsa, you feel it burn a bit in your mouth but the taste is so good.”
❝ “Dan Auerbach, the redhead, and Patrick Carney, the nerd.”
❝ “There is no heart or soul; in Let's rock, there are few ideas, banal and stale riffs, no potential hits, just lots and lots and looooooots of boooooooring boredom.”
❝ There are phases in life when everything seems still, static, devoid of energy... phases where change/non-change feels forced, repeated, necessary, and painful... then you are gifted "Leucocyte" and a new journey begins. Liberating.
❝ “…Music is sufficient in itself, it is a kind of basic thing, it never needs to have a special meaning, it’s always fine exactly as it is, just music, of course it can suggest many thoughts and images to you... but for me music is just music and I don’t want to explain it, there is nothing to explain. Precisely there is nothing to say about music because music speaks for itself quite clearly…” (interview published on Ciaojazz)
❝ Some things don’t happen by chance. It is no coincidence that B.B. King has the word King as part of his name.
❝ Spending 70 euros for a concert of not even an hour and a half might seem like madness, but seeing a music legend perform live with such passion has a value that goes far beyond those 70 euros
❝ BB King’s sound is not the sound of Blues, it is "a" sound of Blues.
❝ "\u201COrchestrion\u201D is Pat Metheny’s latest madness."
❝ "undoubtedly delivers one of the masterpieces of his decades-long career."
❝ "... a new milestone in electric guitar music... searing, soaring, twisted chords of action guitar/thought process. An incendiary work by an unpredictable master, a challenge to the challengers..."
❝ "Grit" is a monument to imprisoned anger, violent, jarring.
❝ Probably, however, it is Sivert Høyem's voice that did the rest: cobalt blue, soft and deep, enveloping like a heavy wool blanket on a rainy autumn evening.
❝ they were even invited to play at the Nobel Peace Prize ceremony in Oslo, and to attend, they had to cancel two sold-out German tour dates
❝ Wow, what an album! An ethereal floating in the grip of a spring breeze.
❝ His voice may be liked or not, but it has a fundamental trait: recognizability.
❝ but in reality, "Crack-Up" represents a work in which the Fleet Foxes achieve their full artistic maturity.
❝ "Hard-to-define-music" is a typical expression of the online music guide Allmusic, used for those records that are difficult to categorize within a precise genre.
❝ It truly surprises me not to find any reviews on Debaser of this great guitarist, one of the most refined in existence and undoubtedly with a great sense of taste in playing.
❝ If Southern Rock didn’t die with Lynyrd Skynyrd’s 'Sweet Home Alabama' or the Allman Brothers Band's 'Jessica,' it’s precisely thanks to “Shake Your Money Maker,” the debut of the Black Crowes dated 1990.
❝ This 2010 double album was the last from the Black Crows for a long time, followed by yet another brawl between the two bosses of the group, namely singer and guitarist brothers Robinson.
❝ Warmth, introspection, feeling, cohesion are adjectives that well describe the current status of the band, which seems to have been reborn after the entry of Luther Dickinson (North Mississippi All Stars) on guitar.
❝ “The Man Who” is an absolute masterpiece, an album that will influence countless bands in the years to come (even Chris Martin often candidly admits the enormous influence of Travis on the sound of the earliest Coldplay).
❝ “The radio is playing all the usual and what's a wonderwall anyway”
❝ “Cause you say you love me/ And then you do it again, you do it again”
❝ Sweet Tea is nothing but an extremely gritty, raw blues record, with nothing sweet about it.
❝ Buddy Guy this time leaves the electric guitar at home and doesn’t leave it because he forgot... quite the opposite... he leaves it because this time he doesn’t need it, this time a good acoustic guitar and a good microphone are enough and more to create yet another great blues masterpiece.
❝ How many guitar styles this artist has influenced is impossible to say, but it is worth remembering how a great like Eric Clapton said that his career as a musician was strongly influenced by him.
❝ “Fading Frontiers” is POP, in the most genuine sense of the term. An accessible and positive album: (for newcomers) the ideal way to immerse yourself in the weirdness of Cox’s world.
❝ Ladies and gentlemen we are floating in space.
❝ If only there were more bands like Deerhunter.
❝ "Endless Summer" is simply a work of art, whose importance lies not in its innovative potential or ability to revolutionize the history of music, but merely in its ability to express and convey emotions.
❝ Viennese Christian Fennesz is one of the prominent figures in the realm of minimal electronic exploration, otherwise known as "glitch," among whose current exponents we find Four Tet, Lali Puna, and the artists of Morr Music.
❝ But probably only and exclusively from Fennesz could we (not) expect a work like this "Black Sea," an extraordinary gem released in November 2008 by the industrious Touch Records.
❝ "Gossip in the Grain" is truly a masterpiece, one of those albums that grow on you listen after listen, and then you want to hear it again; in short, one of those that will never tire you.
❝ Trouble (RCA-2004), his debut album, is the proof.
❝ Short cut: album of the Madonna.
❝ a beautiful grunge ballad, adorned with a splendid lyric on the theme of suicide.
❝ Noteworthy is the cover of "Simple Man" by the aforementioned Lynyrd Skynyrd, really well done and engaging, a tribute to their much more experienced fellow citizens and musicians.
❝ A record with a magical aura.
❝ 22, A Million is a cathartic album because it clarifies its musical contents in relation to the predisposition of the listener.
❝ Close your eyes, another dimension opens up.
❝ John's voice turns into a rabid dog's sneer, the razor strokes of his slide peel off the wallpaper in the neat little houses of Fort Wayne, and his new name is Freddie J IV.
❝ The dirtiest, sweatiest duo from Mississippi is back, and they up the ante.
❝ Talking about a pop star like Lady Gaga is an endeavor comparable to a double-edged sword: on one hand, there's the risk of falling into exaltation and idolatry, and on the other, of excessively diminishing her skills, reverting to the usual contrast between “underground” and “mainstream”.
❝ And it is genius. Stephanie Germanotta creates nothing... Yet she's genius.
❝ Lady GaGa: love or hate. There is no alternative.
❝ "These guys are criminals."
"These guys are criminals."
❝ "The fact remains that these three gentlemen have now returned to being the best power trio around."
"The fact remains that these three gentlemen have now returned to being the best power trio around."
❝ "We are the Motorpsycho. Your musical and cultural characteristics will be assimilated. Resistance is futile."
"We are the Motorpsycho. Your musical and cultural characteristics will be assimilated. Resistance is futile."
❝ Glasvegas holds in their hands a handful of songs that peers cannot write over their entire careers.
❝ Glasvegas are not superstars and probably never will be, but in light of this second good work, they make their mark in a land close to their hearts, the homeland of their own style.
❝ This new chapter Come Around Sundown constitutes a poorly executed attempt to return to their roots, an album largely dull that doesn’t take off and requires at least three listens to appreciate even minimally.
❝ This is essentially the content of the debut album by Kings Of Leon, a band composed of three brothers and a cousin who go by the names of Jared, Caleb, Nathan, and Matthew Followill.
❝ Let’s get right to it: this “Only By The Night” sounds great, few mental masturbations.
❝ From now on, for a barbecue "Nude With Boots" is like charcoal: essential.
❝ few bands on this planet can boast as much influence on the entire rock scene as the Melvins.
❝ The rock historiography tells us that the Melvins chose their band name in honor of an unfortunate Christmas tree thief from Aberdeen, named Melvin.
❝ Let's cut the crap, there are no other bands like Oneida.
❝ Nowadays, old ladies with strange teeth no longer ask you to paint their fences.
❝ Sometimes it happens that I tell myself "...thank goodness albums like this come out!"
❝ Mark Kozelek, I hate you.
❝ It's Mark Kozelek, simply.
❝ Essential instrumentation and unusually complex, baroque harmonies.
❝ "Euphoria" is a record of acoustic guitars strolling through the landscapes of a diorama book.
❝ The singer's voice doesn't sound raw, idiots, it is!!! It's called adolescence.
❝ A Blank Shot.
❝ In conclusion, all one can do is applaud these kids, and in particular the frontman Gabriel Garcia and his amazing voice, which reminds us a bit of good old Hetfield, leaving us with a bit of bitterness and electrifying adrenaline at the same time.
❝ Released in 2001, "The Eternal Power of Flowers" is the fifth album in the long career of the Munich trio, led by the massive guitarist Stefan Koglek.
❝ Colour Haze are this, a psychedelic band in the truest sense of the word. Just three people: Stefan Koglek (guitar and vocals), Manfred Merwald (drums), and Philip Rasthofer (bass). I assure you they are more than enough!
❝ Some claim they are the best band of the New Millennium, but only one thing is certain: their perfect blend of fuzzy roughness and spatial intangibility has set a standard.
❝ “Pressure Machine,” the name of the new album, is in fact their most American work since “Sam’s Town,” and for the writer, also their best since then.
❝ “Hot Fuss,” which is truly extraordinary.
❝ “Sam’s Town” is a misstep, no matter how you look at it; the lyrics leave much to be desired, and the once carefree music has become pretentious and redundant. A total debacle.
❝ The truth in the end is in the middle: Nickelback are neither Satan nor the new saviors of hard rock.
❝ To conclude, in my opinion, there's really little to salvage for the band, which after being buried by millions of dollars from Roadrunner and selling 50 million records worldwide, should seriously consider disbanding and perhaps let Kroeger proceed in a predictable solo project.
❝ Nickelback, a band to get to know and not to judge only by the singles.
❝ I would play Sunset Mission when I get in the car on a winter evening, heading for an almost endless journey along the highways swallowed by darkness.
❝ It is not at all simple to talk about Piano Nights, the eighth nocturnal wonder by Bohren & Der Club Of Gore.
❝ Bohren & der Club of Gore play a type of slow and unhurried doom jazz.
❝ Joe - is - back!
❝ Class is permanent:
❝ In conclusion, it remains his richest and most underrated album.
❝ Among the "Big Four" of thrash metal, alongside Slayer, Anthrax, and Megadeth.
❝ And they’ve written unforgettable pages for crying out loud...AND JUSTICE FOR ALL...
❝ CARVED UPON MY STONE, MY BODY LIE BUT STILL I ROAM.
❝ Buy the record, period.
❝ Nashville is a wonderfully warm, typical, intimate, and enveloping album.
❝ Sound drug so well written, produced, played, and sung that everything else fades far into the background, almost disappears.
❝ From there onwards, it will be NINETY minutes NINETY of "cosmic hard rock instrumental" jams and psychedelic lights flashing in the dark like B-beams near the Tannhauser gate:
❝ Earthless produce an enjoyable and worthy listen, and they indeed manage to offer us 40 minutes of stunning space explorations.
❝ Power is changing.
❝ Some saw them as the "new hope" of symphonic power metal, typical of Scandinavia.
❝ Overall, the album sounds good; the Saint Daemons seem capable, and although it's not a too aggressive album, it faithfully reflects traditional power sounds.
❝ Between amusement park and paradise, all, but really all, the colors of dub. (suspended celestial time)
❝ Five stars, without any remorse.
❝ Please, someone explain to Ethan Miller that the seventies are long over, that the Hammond organ is no longer used by anyone, and that the unkempt beard-receding hairline duo no longer agrees with the tastes of the young people buying records.
❝ In conclusion, I am very attracted to this album.
❝ A blast of nu-metal made in New Jersey with completely tribal influences from Latin America.
❝ Truly an excellent effort.
❝ Explosive debut for Ill Nino, who with this Revolution/Revolucion blend violence, melody, and Latin American influences in 13 songs.
❝ The Raein are eternal, in simple words.
❝ Perhaps less aggressive in sound but still unmistakably Raein.
❝ Raein offers songs full of pathos, and with dark and catastrophic tones combined with typically emo lyrics.
❝ Album from 1989 and first recording as a leader for Roy Hargrove, then a twenty-year-old emerging jazz trumpet talent.
❝ SLEEP (2015) is a work conceived to be listened to during sleep hours, a chamber lullaby of just over eight hours for rest from this world always in a hurry, always late.
❝ Minimal piano notes like raindrops on soft string orchestrations, electronic punctuation, ambient surges.
❝ So this album is not made of tracks, but postcards, twenty-four postcards, like the ones your relatives used to send you, which no one writes anymore, at most used as coasters, and we’ve forgotten even how to read them.
❝ trilobed band with percussion and double bass, an entity that offers instrumental tracks that are captivating both in aesthetics and in the disjointed and disproportionate offering of dissonant melodies;
❝ Lin Lan and Len are three extraterrestrials. Morkobot is their master. To dominate the earth is their intent. Clear, right?
❝ “MoRtO” (‘08, Supernatural Cat) is the final chapter of the trilogy that these three crazies have endeavored to make over the last three years.
❝ “Take the Lostprophets and mix them well with Trivium, and you'll get Bullet For My Valentine...”
❝ “Metallica playing “Master of Puppets” with endorsements signed by Guitar Hero and Fisher Price instead of ESP and Tama.”
❝ “If the debut could be classified as part of the metalcore current, the second muddied the waters, being an unsuccessful collage of different influences, here it falls fully into an album to which the label of mainstream FM metal, as grotesque as it may be, sums up the idea well.”
❝ The haunted ballroom is that of the Overlock hotel, the horror machine where an old orchestra is lost in a melancholic and elusive finesse.
❝ No Wow, no wonder. It's all here, raw and unrefined.
❝ I didn't expect much from this album, but in the end, I have to say that the first Kills album in five years (the last one, 'Blood Pressures', indeed came out in 2011) sounds much better than I could have imagined.
❝ The opening track, 'Future Starts Slow' starts strong, rocks hard, with a killer hook that grabs you and you can't help but sing along: 'No longing for the moonlight, no longing for the sun, no longer will I curse the bad I've done...'
❝ “8 is a wild and compact, cyclical album. It has neither beginning nor end, a metaphor for the divine fury that harnesses elements and marks the perpetual cosmic flow of Everything.”
❝ “The band from Tortona offers us a concept album that is certainly not easily assimilated, capable of embracing within original and coherent coordinates all the elements of heavy and more distorted psychedelia.”
❝ “A great album: excellently played and produced by Lorenzo Stecconi (from Lento).”
❝ Bugo is eclectic, a wizard of spontaneity.
❝ Bugo, aka Cristiano Bugatti, has so far released three CDs (plus various singles and collaborations), the latest of which is titled "Dal lofai al cisei", in stores since October.
❝ Bugo showed, first and foremost, that he knows how to play with himself, without taking himself too seriously, and that he can play various instruments with ease, transitioning from the guitar (which he played like Jimi Hendrix - who must have had a good laugh from the grave - wielding it behind his back and playing with his teeth..), to the harmonica, drums, keyboards and related samplings, inventing, creating and expanding his songs in a wholly personal way.
❝ their music is mostly banal and simplistic.
❝ "I’m a fucking genius" (Noel Gallagher)
❝ This is undoubtedly the masterpiece of the Gallagher brothers
❝ The impossibility of finding oneself again.
❝ Sigur Rós don’t play Post-Rock, they play the way Sigur Rós play, which is like no one else plays.
❝ The feeling is that of being part of an important moment in the History of Music:
❝ Born in 1998, they decided from the very beginning to abandon any sort of ideal-typical song format, to disdain decibels, and raise their heads to the occult firmament.
❝ Not just Buck Rogers, then.
Buck Rogers
❝ Feeder just can’t make bad albums, this is now established.
❝ It’s currently difficult to find a better proposal than Feeder in the realm of melodic rock.
❝ As a souvenir I took thirty packages of Tatranky wafers, packs like Loacker but much better. Only after a few days did I notice a slightly hidden brand: Danone. They really took everything from us. They really took everything
❝ Pubblicità Progresso: listen to them.
❝ Offlaga Disco Pax NEO-SENSIBILIST COLLECTIVE OPPOSED TO DEMOCRACY IN FEELINGS.
❝ "The nine prophets enter in the dark and immediately it is madness."
❝ "IF YOU'RE THE 555 THEN I'M 666!!!"
❝ "All Hope Is Gone" is an album that's already been released, specifically for a while now.
❝ 11 tracks of staggering beauty.
❝ Tonight I'm taking a leap to the moon.
❝ The Joy Division playing like an Indie Pop band with $80 Sears guitars.
❝ Probably while writing this review I am unconsciously annoyed.
❝ I open the umbrella in anticipation of a rain of ashes.
❝ This is a complete and heartfelt album after several years of silence.
❝ In short, "The Better Life" - belonging to the much-despised post-grunge trend by music purists - is great for those looking for catchy and free rock, but if you look beyond this, you won't find much.
❝ To be brief and concise, no one should expect something new or innovative from 3 Doors Down, which confirms that they intend to do their homework, but knowing how to do it well.
❝ But remember: it's always just rock'n'roll.
❝ This Boris produce music at the same speed with which an eighty-year-old pees.
❝ The ever-evolving hydra from the Land of the Rising Sun mocks those who can't seem to evolve..
❝ "The Magical World of Vinyl"
❝ Psychedelic psychotropic trips, acid Kraut, liquid loops, wurstel and Americana, prolixity at full throttle with bandanas on their heads, dreaming of colorful mushrooms like on the cover of Sacred Mushroom, long endings challenging the attention span (but who cares?!)
❝ An album for a few, but not due to excessive difficulty of listening, but due to the prolixity and perhaps excessive adherence to the sources. Consider yourself warned.
❝ "La Otracina is the New Wave of Psychedelic Heavy Metal, a contemporary musical vision exploding with classic influences and mind-warping sonic fusions"
❝ 90-60-90
❝ In short, you can’t say these guys don’t know how to play live.
❝ Ultimately, and without hesitation, already among the albums of the year.
❝ These are Black Mountain, standard-bearers of 21st-century neo-psychedelia. Open applause.
❝ Power is nothing without control
❝ The past answers present
❝ Pontiak is the joints you smoke with your cousin at three in the afternoon after a family lunch at a farmstead.
❝ “Ate Ate Ate” (’08, Robotradio Records) is the soundtrack of the end of the world, of the post-atomic apocalypse, narrated with ferocious ruthlessness.
❝ At their fifth attempt, those morbid bastards of Dead Meadow place the album that allows them to say: "Okay, we've already spilled all the jam, live we're whips (listen to the exorbitant Peel Sessions to believe) and now, only now, we start writing songs".
❝ "Feathers" marks an evolution in the band from Washington D.C.'s typical hypnotic-obsessive sound, thanks to a more varied approach to heavy psychedelic material, resulting in their music becoming more accessible.
❝ It is precisely the mantric and hypnotic repetition of rhythms that contributes to making Dead Meadow's music psychedelic.
❝ It’s a psychedelic sound that doesn’t feel the need to oppress your intestines.
❝ This is an album that can appeal to everyone.
❝ “Ultraviolet” is a mixture of sludge, underground rock, of the most vulgar punk and unexpected and piercing psychedelic chants.
❝ The firstborn is dead... let the sky break, spew out its tears and dress in mourning this red earth.
❝ I don't believe in an interventionist God but if I did I would ask Him to watch over you
❝ Nick Cave was probably (surely) the greatest rock star of the last thirty years.
❝ Beyond any evaluation, I believe that "Neptune With Fire" is above all an ambitious album, right from its structure: only two tracks, divided internally into what could be described as "movements" (never have quotes been more necessary), for almost 40 minutes of duration.
❝ Because Of Sound Mind is not simply the algebraic sum of psychedelia + '70s prog + post-rock + doom-drone-stoner.
❝ With the harsher side of their sound toned down, what emerges is a pastoral, psychedelic, gentle, soothing, melancholic, space, and prog work, as if to highlight their wonderful skeleton made of seventies ballads...
❝ So maximum respect for the interesting idea and for two or three spot-on tracks, but nowadays releasing a record of 79 mins and expecting the listener to maintain their attention span for more than half the album, is not just mere utopia, it’s almost presumption.
❝ Endless Boogie takes its name from the eponymous 1971 album by John Lee Hooker,
❝ The result is an especially powerful and effective album in its hallucinated acid blues suggestions.
❝ Sweet and heartrending.
❝ "Phosphene Dream" is a tormented and lysergic high, a psych'n'roll through desert hallucinations that traverse the well-trodden ground halfway between the psychedelia of compatriots 13th Floor Elevators and the paranoid and decadent style of Velvet Underground.
❝ What comes out of the speakers is more than an Easter, it is an epiphany. An epiphany of fascinating 60s acid residues.
❝ Directions To See A Ghost is a magnetic, carcinogenic, and "dangerous" album. A wicked thought that fades the rainbow, a wicked snake in the grass.
❝ "Small Circular Walks in the Valley of Hope" officially vies for the award "What the hell did they mean with this title?", edition 2008/09.
❝ It’s Ragnarök. It’s the apocalypse. It’s armageddon. It’s the end of days.
❝ The object that has been tickling my desires for weeks and made me smile like a kid on Christmas day when the courier rang my doorbell to deliver it, is composed of three vinyl records, the third of which contains six tracks not included in the CD, the CD itself, a DVD, and different knick-knacks, like a poster and a piece of cloth with the word Mogwai.
❝ And Holy Christ, they've done it again.
❝ SPECIAL WARNINGS:it creates a freaking addiction. Those who have experienced the previous masterpieces "Ta Det Lugnt" and "Tio Bitar" know this well...
❝ "Ta Det Lugnt" alternates, with a progressive ethic (in the positive and proactive sense of the term), pop moments à la Pet Sounds, hard rock accelerations à la May Blitz, psychedelic ramblings brimming with liquid guitars and space keyboards, often centrifuged within the same track ("Panda" and the unpronounceable fourth track).
❝ In truth, "Häxan" (The Witch) represents a unique episode within the group's discography for at least two reasons: first, it's a completely instrumental album; second, it's a soundtrack to accompany one of the first animated feature films in cinema, "The Adventures Of Prince Achmed" written and directed in 1926 by Lotte Reiniger.
❝ "It is scientifically proven that a woman's orgasm, in auditory terms, travels on a frequency that reaches the male ear regardless of the surrounding noise level."
❝ "Getting kicked in the ass is bad and it hurts."
❝ “Charged” by Nebula is one of those albums that every stoner rock fan should have listened to at least once in their life.
❝ “Come Down” is irresistible, you have to move, dance, play air guitar, make faces at the mirror, you too are a rockstar for a day.
❝ In short … acidified stoner.
❝ Cheerfully recommended, and remember... Spanish Psychedelic Stoner!
❝ Not a masterpiece. Rather, a damn fine old-school hard rock album, perhaps nostalgic but never pathetic, proudly flaunting its derivativeness like it was a medal.
❝ the album, by the way, consists of only these two suites, both over 25 minutes long, but it's not a problem: lie down and relax, don't think, just listen.
❝ All the power of analog.
