THE REVIEW

Most of the time, accompanying the sadness of a lost love, there is a song to which we are particularly attached for a certain period. We know we shouldn't listen to it because it makes us feel even worse, but at the same time, we can't help it.

This is what "Our ever changing Earth" conveyed to me, the first track of a fresh and pleasant album by this young band from Verona named Katrienne. Intrigued by the tracks downloaded from their site, I sought out the full album. It took me a while to listen to it, because capturing all the nuances required some meditation.

Most of the tracks are a moving swing: intertwining arpeggios, synths that accompany (without being intrusive) all the pieces, violins, decisive and pressing crescendos, but also anger, resentment, and much melancholy, the only real common denominator. Initially, the album takes you to an almost magical world, rich in harmony, and a warmth covers the sofa on which I'm sitting. This atmosphere that keeps me suspended makes room for a more decisive dynamic, characterized by ups and downs that often lead to homogeneous and crystalline openings, accompanied by a female voice that adds even more body to the compositions, as in track 4, "Lapaz". "Present" and "Venus" give space to voice samplings revisiting the tracks, where the cadenced and very present drums manage to blend perfectly with the pieces.

The thing that surprised me most was the fifth track, a real punch in the stomach. I would never have expected such a powerful start after a very slow ending. Surely a thought-out idea that makes the listener jump out of their seat, showing another dark and angry side of this album.

An album definitely noteworthy, completely self-produced. I'm surprised that this group doesn't have a label yet, despite their excellent talent and the very positive feedback from all the reviews circulating. Andrea

The name is captivating, mysterious, smoky. Like their self-titled album.

It is perfect music as the soundtrack for a passionate love, a heroic film, or any positive feeling.
