Honeyglaze is an indie rock trio made in the UK, born from an idea by vocalist and songwriter Anouska Sokolow.

According to well-informed sources, it seems that Anouska was booked to play solo at the Windmill in Brixton, but, fearful of going on stage without accompaniment, three days before the performance, she enlisted bassist Tim Curtis and drummer Yuri Shibuichi. In those three days of rehearsal, what was supposed to be a temporary formation became something more: Honeyglaze.

The band debuted in 2022 with a self-titled album recorded in just three days, mostly consisting of indie pop tinged with jazz. The new album, Real Deal, released under the aegis of Fat Possum Records, definitely takes the trio towards new horizons.

Real Deal has a sharp and vibrant sound, made of post-punk, with echoes of 90s dream pop, supported by percussion that alternates delicate jazz touches with powerful emo-punk explosions, all the way to the shoegaze of the title track. Personally, I associate them with English Teacher, whom we listened to a few months ago, almost sketching a proto-movement.

The end-of-year charts are approaching: mark this name in your notebook!
