For lovers of metal "extreme but not too much" this album is a must.
A bit of history first. Hate Eternal is a brutal death metal band originally from Florida. The guitarist, vocalist, and band leader is Erik Rutan, ex-Morbid Angel, who founded this group in 1999. After various changes, they changed their entire line-up, with only Erik remaining. After two albums that achieved decent success, the third full-length is very important for them.
"I, Monarch", is an excellent death metal album, with an incredible drummer who sometimes seems to merge the double bass. The singer is no less impressive, with a very powerful growl.
The opener "Two Demons" has a very catchy riffing and is very fast and aggressive, with an excellent solo and, in general, well played. After such a beginning, "Behold Judas" couldn't continue better: this song is spectacular! Wonderful, with a very aggressive intro, a (almost) catchy chorus, but always very brutal. Masterpiece. "The Victorious Reign" is also beautiful: in the first (very violent) seconds, the drums are unleashed, fast, almost impressive, and it's impossible to stay still without following the overwhelming rhythm of the drums. "To Know Our Enemies" is different, even metalcore/thrash in the riff. A good song nonetheless. "I, Monarch" is another gem: introduction with tapping, then everything changes: fast drums, but a slightly slow and repetitive riffing hides its beauty in the continuous tempo changes. With "Path To The Eternal God" a bit of repetitiveness starts to be felt. Fortunately, "The Plague Of Humanity" varies a bit, thanks to the beautiful riffs present; very violent and very aggressive, it is one of the best. "It Is Our Will" starts well, then gets a bit lost, but features many tempo changes that make it one of the best songs. "Sons Of Darkness" goes back to being "the usual fare." The instrumental "Faceless One" concludes everything, usual nice riffing, with solos that break the monotony.
In conclusion, an excellent brutal death album, with plenty of good cues; it certainly does not surprise for originality, but there are good songs.

05 I, Monarch (04:37)
In this being, in flesh, There can be no absolution
Therefor I must shed my skin, in a world so fabled, so false
07 The Plague of Humanity (04:02)
How is it that you find, such discontent for our people,
Such disrespect of our kind, You are the plague of humanity!
You are the plague of humanity!
Why is it that you deny the realization of truth while creating an actualization of lies?
Your intolerance for loyalty, in acceptance of the indignity,
The irony of the civilized world, You are the plague of humanity!
It was not always so, this insolence so insipid,
For where there is truth, there are only lies,
Is there in truth no pride, or dignity of the highest nature?
For where there is fact, deception only lies,
I will say it once, I will say it again,
Our nemesis is humanity, you are the plague of humanity!
You are the plague of humanity!
I see only weakness in you, the epitome of deceit,
You truly are the enemy of our existence!
