From the deepest underground of 70s Germany, the mysterious Golem emerge with "ORION AWAKES".

Originally pressed in 30 copies distributed by hand, it is a true cult object.

Practically nothing is known about the group; the musicians involved are certainly under pseudonyms, the release date is uncertain - 1973? 1976? Some have credited G.P. ORRIDGE????? as the producer. Mysteries that enhance the charm of the record, but even more fascinating is its music.

I am sure any Kraut Rock enthusiast will drool at the first notes of the opening “ORION AWAKES”. Pure KRAUT launched into orbit.

A time machine where GURU GURU and ASH RA TEMPLE are engaged in a stellar jam session.

Organ, hammond, acid guitars, cavernous basses, these are the instruments that take us by the hand and lead us on a lysergic, completely instrumental, freeform journey, with always very sustained rhythms and a typically German obsessiveness, infinite guitar solos, bursts of wah-wah, fuzz, and distortions.

Fellow travelers are the already mentioned GURU GURU, the early ASH RA TEMPLE, the more primitive CAN, the early, more spatial PINK FLOYD, the more lysergic HENDRIX. All distorted by a lens that makes the sound as a whole almost garage-like. It might remind some of JULIAN COPE's works with his BRAINDONOR.

Everyone could find something different with each listen, different affinities, so rich are the tracks.

A album I strongly recommend to musical archaeologists, to those who love losing themselves in time, and to those who are eager to explore new sounds, distant yet never so close.
