Giulio Mozzi returns to bookstores with his own book after spending the last few years publishing books by others and working on the most diverse editorial projects. He does so with a very special book, since "Sono l'ultimo a scendere (e altre storie credibili)" presents a series of very short and short stories that Mozzi has published online first on giuliomozzi.com and then on vibrissebollettino.net, where they are still available.

In this book, Mozzi tells the story of a plausible literary alter ego, who is named after him and does more or less what he does: boards and gets off many trains (generally Eurostar between Padua and Milan), reads books of all kinds, receives many phone calls, deals with various annoyances, meets people and characters of all kinds. Stories and little stories filled with sharp comedy and irony, from which emerges a minimalist Italy made up of people and details we deal with every day, often without even realizing it. It's easy to rediscover many small personal memories among the pages of this book, as Mozzi presents an absolutely transversal human sampler capable of narrating the everyday life of this country in a clear and lucid way.

A funny book, made up of stories sometimes just sketched but always very well written and, a detail that makes the reading even more enjoyable, always suspended at the right point: stories that manage to surprise and move you page after page, leaving a amused smile on your lips. The last chapter of the book is then enlightening, where Mozzi explains with an almost frightening clarity how this minimalist itinerant diary was born (this text is also online, you can find it here).

A book preferably to be read on a train.
