They come from Prato, Frank DD and his friends, although the sound imprint is anything but Tuscan.
The genre is rooted in Jamaica, but in this collection of 8 tracks it is more anchored to Nigeria (as can be inferred from the title).
An album linked to Nigeria featuring among the various friends the Nigerian singer Moses, who alternates the songs with introductions in a radio host style.
To get closer to his country, his Nigeria where he has family and friends, where his roots remain.
8 tracks, 8 injections of positivity and hope.
In the track Radio Nigeria, I particularly appreciate the daring use of dubstep that adds a touch of modernity helping to distance from the "usual" reggae.
It's known that off-beat rhythms easily win, but here the guys know it inside out.
Another track that particularly convinced me in terms of sound is Lieto fine.
The lyrics are perfectly consistent with what one can expect from this genre and are truly well-done, as is the choice of vocal lines.
Bold and original is also the alternation of songs and spoken presentations and interludes by Moses.
For the remastering and reissue of Radio Nigeria, we must thank the contribution of the Progetto 100 band within GiovaniSì – Regione Toscana.
An album that embraces the nostalgia of home (which can belong to any of us) and illuminates it with peace and love between peoples.
All this honors this group of friends who launch the message that music unites in the best possible form.
