For the ignorant, it's just the years of Disco Music and Glam Rock. Obviously, they didn't understand a damn thing. In a certain sense, this is where Alternative grew (Post-Punk, Darkwave, Indie, Shoegaze, Post-Rock, but also, in a broader sense of the term, Hardcore and Metal).
