Again regarding Logic Probe: sorry for the super delay in my reply, but I haven't logged in for a while... which album by Anathema are you referring to? If you mean the latest AND, I have it, as well as the two that preceded it (both even more valid, imho) and the 'old' The Silent Enigma, when our guys were still offering a doom metal that's very different from what they play today. I'm still unsure whether to spend the money on Deadwing or not...
I found Anathema to be more spontaneous on stage, not to mention the extreme availability of Vince and Danny Cavanagh once their set was over. Musically speaking, I like both bands too much to take a stand for one or the other.
Cheers

oops..
I’m re-editing by authenticating myself, so it’s more readable (and I avoid being called an anonymous coward, etc. etc.)

In fact... well-written is well-written, nothing to argue (even though, to be honest, I’ve seen things written even better on this same site - or fish market - to use your words, signed by a certain Antonio Sapio). On the substance, I couldn’t agree less (Noel Merdagher a genius? Come on, a little objectivity wouldn’t hurt... or maybe, we don’t give the term genius the same meaning. Gabriel was a genius. Bowie was a genius, Freddie Mercury (at times) was definitely brilliant. Among the more recent ones, I think of Corgan (now fallen from grace), Trent Reznor if you want... but Gallagher, por favor! A little respect for the aforementioned (and surely I’m forgetting others, and just as many I probably don’t know...) As for how you interpreted the mood of the album, I can’t speak on that... and I don’t think I’ll ever be able to do so rationally, since I have no intention of throwing away money on an Oasis CD. But do you really review on Ondarock? In that case, I must say that the review your colleague did is definitely more in line with my thoughts.... :-) And it also explains the arrogance and the condescending tone of some passages in the review typical of the ondarockarolo... (or at least, they seemed such, again I could be wrong) no hard feelings.

x Logic Probe: PT remains one of my favorite bands to this day, and I was also at Transilvania enjoying their performance. However, after seeing them, I must say, honestly:
Anathema - PT 2-1 Mooolto more exciting and more 'connected' to the audience, even if not as musically perfect as SW & co. But if music is still emotion (especially live)...

let's also say that you're a poor misfit who doesn't understand a damn thing (like, really, not a damn thing) about music (rock)..? For the rest, I won't rate the review because I think it shouldn't even be taken seriously, but considered for what it is... and I believe (at least, I hope so for the author) it’s intentionally badass.

For now, I say... mah! Mah because a) I haven't listened to the album yet (except for the live preview they did during the tour with Anathema). b) because – at least judging by the songs presented live – I'm increasingly convinced that I preferred the PT of Lightbulb Sun and Stupid Dream, less 'powerful' but more poetic and inspired. This is a strictly personal point of view, and quite atypical since I have a predominantly 'metal oriented' musical background (I love Opeth, just to give you an idea). Yet, in the case of the porcupine, I don’t know... something doesn't sit right. For example, even with In Absentia, over time my preferred tracks are the more atmospheric ones (Lips of Ashes, The Sound of Muzak – fantastic live – Heartattack in a Layby, and Collapse the Light...). Anyway, I will get this one sooner or later. I'll let you know when I've gotten to know it a bit. By the way, I liked your review, and needless to say, it sparked my curiosity (the instrumental break of Arriving Somewhere... is terrifying!)

Well... much like it was back in the day with RATM, I've never been able to digest SOAD. A band I respect for their consistent choices, commitment, lyrics, etc., but musically they just don’t say much to me. In fact... de gustibus anyway.

Well... despite the fact that the previous SFTD was a really great album, the kind that makes you bang your head this way and that whether you like it or not, I've always had some underlying doubts about the value of QOTSA, whose actual merits have always seemed to me at least somewhat exaggerated. This little dish is a confirmation of that, it seems. Sufficient and nothing more /(in fact, to be honest, I would give it more of a 2.5 than a 3). It might deserve a mastering, but that’s where it ends.
Nirvana In Utero

disc that barely skims the passing grade (imho), no more no less. Cobain is now clearly in a creative deficit, with a production by Steve Albini that, while not jarring – and indeed legitimizing its impact – is simply out of context with the sound of Neurosis. If it hadn't been a Nirvana album, it would have gone unnoticed, or nearly so. The review is a bit long, though...

highest point..?!? well, de gustibus... personally, the (pen)ultimate anathema - those of Judgement and AFDTE - are a good notch above this album, which is decent and nothing more. a gloomy and heavy record... musically speaking, but also in terms of inspiration, the 4 from Liverpool have made giant strides since the time of this album (excluding a natural disaster)
