Oops, I made a mistake, I called Gianluigi Rondi Giovanni Rondi... how could I. Thank you for pointing it out, happyhippo, but I’m afraid it’s too late and that the curse of the little mummy will strike me mercilessly. Poor me...

You may find it strange, but I was also considering writing a review for this little horror gem that radically criticizes the bourgeoisie and the society we live in (the '80s are not that far away). An example of horror that borders on the stomach-churning and the grotesque, yet is not trivial. A cult classic for genre enthusiasts (which I am). The scene of the orgy leaves a lasting impression (wow, that's intense!).

I agree, the scene with the grandfather is a nightmare; whoever came up with it is a genius of evil. However, the scene in the little living room with the caged chickens and the original decor is no less impressive.

Isn't it read in a certain way? There is only one way to read it, and it's the one from the novel it is taken from (what a coincidence!).

Leatherface isn’t just scary... he terrifies to death, just like his more "normal" family members. The film is rotten and unhealthy, much like the atmosphere... it feels like you can breathe the smell of blood and suffocate from the sweltering heat. It’s a horror that takes itself very seriously, leaving no room for irony. The identification with the protagonist is portrayed all too well. You suffer for her, you suffer like her. The soundtrack is perfect. Well done Occulto supersovrano, excellent review.

This film is a must-see and a must-rewatch. It’s not boring; it’s immense. For those who didn’t quite grasp it and want to delve deeper into the story, I highly recommend reading Clarke’s book, which is wonderful and enlightening. And while you’re at it, let yourself get carried away and read as well:
* 2010: Odissea due (2010: Odyssey Two, 1982)
* 2061: Odissea tre (2061: Odyssey Three, 1987)
* 3001: Odissea finale (3001: The Final Odyssey, 1997)
The review is a bit reductive and cursory given the complexity of the film, but it’s clear that you adore this movie and wrote it with feeling.

Salvi was a hilarious absurdist artist. I loved the Megasalvi Show...
