I disagree: indulge yourself on YouTube with their new hits "Ho spaccato" or "Minimale Maxibene" and you will undoubtedly agree with me.

P.S. there’s an extra "nè" in the second line of the mammoth comment.

I'm sorry Ozzy, but I don't agree with your first assertion in comment 11 (and if we want to expand, also some statements in the review). I want to clarify that I don't wish to raise any exaggerated or violent discussions, but simply to share my thoughts on a topic that, frankly, has already been addressed several times and I imagine will never be completely resolved (that is, whether Amon Amarth play Death or Viking metal). While I may not know the band very well (but definitely enough), I agree with Proscriptor: I have always firmly believed that Amon Amarth should be categorized under the Melodic Death genre (while certainly differing quite a bit from the early In Flames, Dark Tranquillity, etc.). The fact that the lyrics deal with Vikings or Norse mythology is another matter: essentially, it’s the sound that makes the difference in categorizing a band into one genre or another (and I think you’ll probably agree with me). From what I know of Amon Amarth (roughly up to "Versus The World" and a bit of "With Oden..."), we certainly can't speak of a Viking Metal sound. If Tokio Hotel were to sing about Satan, vampirism, and lycanthropy, I don't think they would be classified as Black Metal. The Swedes definitely have not only the themes but also "the attitude" on their side: I remember perfectly that during their concert at Alcatraz, every five minutes the singer would shout to Thor or whatever while drinking (or pretending, I don't know) from a bull horn. Until next time.
P.S. Excellent review!
