Not a bad album, I appreciate the effort, but Green Day are still Green Day. The long songs are interesting, but the problem with the album remains the fact that, in the end, it is polished, neat, and too clean, good enough for mom and dad, too. Plastic sounds, sticky riffs. The big ballads are terrible.

Baustelle La Malavita

As per the script, as soon as fame is in the air, the Baustelle start to be renounced by those-who-know-music. Get back, Satan, as it might even come out that they make some good money. Money. Argh! Popularity. Double Argh! Yawn. This is becoming boring. La malavita is a very beautiful and multifaceted CD, with lyrics at medium-high levels and an uncommon ability to digest input from everywhere and rework it. P.S.: is the adjective "derivativi" really that trendy?

I almost forgot, this CD is the first of two. The second will be released in February, still titled neve ridens. The difference is that in the title of the first, the word ridens is crossed out by a line (as seen in the image), while in the second, it will be neve that is crossed out. So maybe you could call this review… hmm… "Neve [ridens]" or something like that, to distinguish it from the second.

Very beautiful CD, to be savored slowly. Parente, as usual, is very cerebral, almost to the point of excess, but he has talent to spare. Try to see him live; he’s incredibly more rock.
