I don't know the album and I'm only familiar with the band by name, but if an album is described as "a more than decent Melodic Black Metal album,ā€ it certainly doesn't deserve a 4 out of 5.

A mediocre band, both live and in the studio. The only positive note is Corey Taylor's voice, very rich and powerful, but absolutely underutilized and, on the contrary, hindered by childish and trivial melodic choices.

I didn't want to spark any controversy, I also pointed out what the editors said.

@ Tepes: I’m aware that "Forest ..." was released in 1992, but referring to this particular album, the expressive formulas of melodic death metal were already established (by 94) and we are talking about an excellent group of "supporting" musicians; they are certainly not At The Gates. I really like them, but please don’t present them as a fundamental band.

When this album came out, it really struck me. U. are an interesting band that doesn't create anything new but plays and writes with style. Very good album, review full of mistakes... more attention, please.

The album is good, and so is Aeolian; they remind me a bit of Cult of Luna. The genre is more associated with post-hardcore than with sludge. For being Germans, they sound very American.
