Jaco Pastorius Smoke On The Water - Live In Rome, 1986

Pastorius, the myth, the genius, one of my sources of inspiration. I don’t own this bootleg, but I am one of the Jaco enthusiasts you mention in the review and I can't wait to listen to it. Of course, that was a difficult time for the greatest bassist of all time; bipolar disorder had led him to lose not only a good part of his polish (but not of his genius), but also the respect of the major labels and the higher echelons of the jazz world. Just think of magazines like Downbeat or most of the leading musicians of the scene who had grown tired of Pastorius's eccentric behavior. I know Jaco's life well, and that’s why I would love to listen to this bootleg to make a comparison between the Jaco of his golden days and the one who had now fallen from grace. Although to be fair, in 1986 Pastorius developed the method book Modern Electric Bass, not much in terms of educational value (many concepts are taken for granted), but in the tracks, you can hear the great Jaco shining (there are videos of this method on YouTube).
Red Hot Chili Peppers One Hot Minute

I haven't listened to the Peppers in ages, but they were my reference point between the ages of 12 and 14. During that time, I collected every album, interview, and any imaginable information about them. But now I'm 22, and ten years have passed; I've listened to a lot of other music from various genres, and the "myth" surrounding them has gradually faded away until it disappeared. I believe that One Hot Minute has a few tracks worth mentioning (Aeroplane, Walkabouts, and especially Transcending), but it pales in comparison to The Uplift Mofo Party Plan or Blood Sugar Sex Magic. Blood Sugar, in particular, is the only album of theirs that I've never changed my mind about: 17 well-crafted tracks. I give the album a 3 influenced by my emotional attachment, and you get another 3 for a review that I didn’t mind.

But how can one decide to review this stuff?
Federico Fellini 8 ½

It's not easy to review what is, for me, the greatest film in the history of cinema; I appreciate the effort.
Joni Mitchell Ladies Of The Canyon

Great review. Among Mitchell's works, I consider noteworthy not only the aforementioned Blue and Hejira but also the tribute album to Mingus (Mingus, indeed), where an inspired Pastorius plays, among others.

"A perfect job in every part" which is different from a job that is packaged perfectly.
Georges Bizet Carmen

Good review. Carmen is beyond discussion, glad to find her on Debaser.
