Alexi, I believe, as Sanjuro said, that your review is too much from a fan's perspective. Five stars is a huge exaggeration. We need to go beyond personal tastes and be more objective. A metal album has never changed the history of rock in such a radical way, and neither have the Children, who are undoubtedly a band of monsters, but... you get what I mean. When you see my new review on Joy Division, which you know I absolutely love, you'll see that I gave it 4 stars. No matter how much I may like an album, it should be viewed with an objective eye. In my opinion, only a very few deserve five stars, and that's a rating that shouldn't be squandered. Overall, good review with good technical insights, very personal and effective.

Not giving the maximum to this record is neither deaf nor foolish. But as Pretazzo says, Desertshore encapsulates a truly significant musical tradition. Nico's voice is icy, impenetrable—allow me to coin the adjective "Ian Curtis-like"; in my opinion, her voice is so detached that it makes a difference...
