As the good cope said, "these are living room mantras".. well done is well done for sure, perhaps a masterpiece of "studio recording art" and the class is remarkable, but I don't see Faustian, Barrettian, Suicidian revolutions and the like.. in his field, he excels without a doubt..

I can't find it, this one.. I have the best in two CDs many sides of.. just the fact that Buckley was clearly inspired by him is enough as a comment...

In my oasis-brit-nme-pop phase (at sixteen) I listened to all these albums mentioned by the New Musical Express, and the only one that has stuck with me is probably The Remote Part by Idlewild... this one, even back then (which says a lot), felt rather pathetic. Pathetic because it's second and third hand stuff... just listen to "Just the Way I'm Feeling," one of the "best": by the second listen, you're already tired of it, and it sounds like a thousand other Britpop songs, including "Wonderwall."

I see I'm not the only one who got tired of them quickly. I listened to Black Sheep Boy and for a brief period I liked it and enjoyed listening to it... but it's one of those albums and bands that, in my opinion, are easily forgotten and get old fast... as if they weren't meant to last... who knows... whatever... who knows...

I read mementomori as a reviewer and think that another proposal of apocalyptic gothic folk from the afterlife awaits me, and instead, it talks to me about summer sunsets... I absolutely have to get it.... :)
