I agree with the judgment on John Barleycorn.. this is a milestone of British psych rock from the sixties.

I said that Lou Reed adored the Beatles, and Lou Reed was the leader of perhaps the greatest rock band that ever existed. The main charm of their music comes from the union—or clash—between two such different personalities as Lou Reed and John Cale: the former, in the end, essentially loyal to the pop song form (putting aside the lyrics), the latter close to the avant-garde. So there exists the avant-garde, there exist the cosmic messengers, but there also exist—and woe betide us if they didn't—the two-minute songs that are undeniably beautiful, undeniably perfect. What band has ever produced such a quantity of beautiful songs in such a few years that everyone else then tried to remake, copy, disguise...? One cannot be blind and deaf to this fact. And I conclude by saying that I listen to the Beatles very rarely in a "direct" way, but I listen to them every day through many other bands, singer-songwriters that came later... and I'm not talking about Oasis... and I reiterate my desire to intern McCartney and Ciucco Ono...

Funny.. but while I swear I'm not an obsessed bitolsian, I must say that a morning like yours, hearing "Get Back" whistled and "Strawberry Fields" playing from a car, I would cherish for a lifetime as a frameable morning.. I don't know about you, but usually my mornings are much worse, with radios blaring Britney Spears, kids singing Tiziano Ferro, and "alternative" peers listening to MUSE (!!!)... then there's the Christmas profit of all those parasites and that bastard McCartney, whom I haven’t been able to stand for over twenty years, richer than the entire globe of musicians, and I completely agree about that Asian cow Ioccoono.. besides the bitols, there has been so much, but like with everything, not everyone is willing to seek out the best, the different.. to me, the bitols represent not a plastic world but something fresh, genuine, and spontaneous (almost always) which is good, in my view, that it remains in the tradition of popular music.. maybe not alone... ;)
