Indeed, the rating would be 3.5 rounded up to 4 (I had mentioned this in the other review as well), in the end the songs, although quite well thought out, are not bad.

I don't agree on a couple of things: why do you define Slash's biography as "pathetic"? I've read the book and honestly, to me, it seems anything but pathetic. Those pages simply contain the truth about his messy, toxic, and opportunistic life (let's not forget he's still a rich kid). Another thing, I agree with you about Velvet Revolver, but Snakepit weren't that bad. As for the album, I'll just reiterate what I wrote in the other review. In the end, it turns out to be a soulless record, a nice collection of cash grabs, even if the songs are, all in all, easy to listen to. Sure, a bit more grit in the riffs wouldn't have hurt; everything is just too polished. And now excuse me, but I'm going to listen to "Reckless Life" again, which is much better.

@Bartle: you could say the same thing about a certain Angus Young, who has been running around dressed like a schoolboy for almost 35 years, but nobody complains and that’s just fine. People also need small certainties, whether it’s Judas Priest still dressed in leather and studs, or Slash with his curly hair and hat pulled down over his eyes playing his inseparable Gibson. As for the album, I’m digesting it these days; there are certainly no memorable tracks, nor particularly noteworthy riffs or solos. The guests feel somewhat pandering, and consequently, the songs come off as rather calculated. In short, Slash could have taken a few more risks and cranked up the amplifier. I give it a 3.5, rounded up to 4 for sentimental reasons!

I don't have this one; when I was in my full Bon Jovi phase 7/8 years ago, I skipped it altogether, and I think it's time to make up for it. For the record, "These Days," while not living up to the previous ones (too many sappy ballads like never before), I still enjoy it today, even if my favorite BJ song remains "Dry County" from "Keep The Faith."

Have you ever tried to take the banana out of GG Allin's ass and leave him for a couple of hours at Idroscalo?

But do you really think a guy with those socks and those slippers can hook up with a girl like that?

Alright, but now every reviewed album becomes "a masterpiece," "something brilliant," "something unmissable"? A little moderation, please; a 5 has a value! Anyway, "Heligoland" grows bit by bit, it's true, even if at first it might seem too uneven. Now you will excuse me, but I must be on my way...
