The Black Keys Brothers
Voto:
This "Brothers" has been heavily hyped, I've listened to it 3/4 times, but I didn't find it to be the masterpiece they're claiming, quite the opposite. I’ll give it another try.

Core, you're amazing, you switch from one genre to another, diving into semi-obscure records that for one reason or another are also in my CD collection! Either you secretly entered my house the day before I wrote a review and grabbed a random CD from my rack, or we have exactly the same musical background. That said, regarding the work in question, which I am of course listening to these days, I must say it's my favorite work by Izzy: laid-back, gritty, bluesy, and inspired enough, with that typical attitude of "if you like me, great, if not, whatever." I think he was quite underrated within Guns, but some of my favorite songs are his, like "14 Years," "Double Talkin' Jive," "Dust 'n Bones," etc.

Beautiful new album by my friend Arnold! By the way, did you know that Ligabue has passed away?

But do you like this cover so much? And now on the count of three, everyone in chorus, come on: "WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU SAYING WILLIS??". Thank you all for participating.

Excuse me, is the gray Opel Corsa double-parked out here belonging to anyone? No, because I need to leave...
Miles Davis You're Under Arrest
Voto:
@Madcat: I definitely recommend "Dark Magus," it's a live album but it's truly a hallucinatory journey, with long and deconstructed pieces, seemingly difficult, but the pleasure is guaranteed! If you want something more "normal," definitely go for "A Tribute To Jack Johnson." The one recommended by Core to Core, "On The Corner," is another masterpiece, but it has a slightly funkier touch. These days I'm reading a book that deals specifically with Davis's electric period, it's called "Lo Sciamano elettrico"...beautiful!

Davis's 80s period is the only one I haven't explored in depth; I saved it for last, and given the multitude of masterpieces he created between '49 and 1975 (the year he stepped back from the scene for 5 years), I don’t think I'll dive into it anytime soon. @Fedezan76: why only jazz in winter? Why not enjoy it in the heat too? :) For instance, in the summer I love revisiting Davis's electric period (Agartha, Pangaea, Live Evil, Dark Magus, Get Up With It, On The Corner, etc.); I find it very "warm" music, especially due to the various funky, rock, blues, and psychedelic influences. Best listened to when hot, high, and tipsy.
