I can't even imagine if PuntiniCazpuntini had also intervened in this discussion... just to be able to open this page, they would have had to add another server.

Frankie, any occasion is good to advertise your site, it makes me cut. Listen, the next time I go to Discoteca Laziale, I'll call you so we can go together because the old lady at the entrance always gives me a nice discount (and I believe her, I leave more than 100 euros at a time)... let me know if you're up for it.

@Frankie89: with all due respect, you're a bit too young to tackle this issue since you're a digital native. You rightly express what your brain tells you, but we thirty-somethings (and older) in this case also speak with our hearts, considering that we experienced those cassette/CD times firsthand. Up until 15/20 years ago, you either bought an album or you weren't listening to it at all. Sure, there were always friends who would record tapes for you, but not everyone had cool friends who shared their tastes and bought CDs. One of my fondest memories from when I was a kid was staring at photos of Megadeth, Motley Crue, Metallica, Skid Row (those were the bands back then) for months, imagining what kind of music they played and only much later (since I bought about 2 tapes a month) actually listening to them with my mouth watering and wearing out those tapes. For me, that whole wait only heightened the desire and pleasure of listening to that music. End of the pathetic/archaic parentheses.

DISCUSSION OF THE YEAR! Not so much for the content (the vinyl vs. mp3/digital music debate has been addressed many times), but for how well you've argued and reasoned, truly impressive. Geb, I didn’t think you were that angry.. :) Anyway, I buy all the damn CDs I want (even online), but then I really listen to them thoroughly and repeatedly, I absorb them, read the lyrics, the credits, and all those little fetishist details. I also love licking the armpits of my partners (better if a bit sweaty).

Wow, how annoying Kosmo is when she's in a bad mood. :) But you're referring to Nicolas Jaar, right? Indeed, some of his tracks are stunning, like "Parasol" or "Space Is Only Noise"; for the rest, I still need to digest..

Untilted, there’s not much to add to your comment! Anyway, yes, the latest from Kryptic Minds is truly remarkable, certainly not a step forward, since as you say in the end it’s pure and simple dubstep (it reminds me quite a bit of 2562’s first album, "Aerial" in its minimalism), but made with great skill and much more attention to detail, in short, a must-listen with headphones. As for the rest of your comment, it would be worth bringing in users like KosmoG, the late Ghemison, Giorgioladisa, and all those nice people who know a ton about electronic music...

@Dopesmoker: he may have released other tracks, but he earned his success and radio play with that cover, which for me is also the best piece on the album. I don't agree that 2011 is a sparse year, as you say. So at this point, a nice DE GUSTIBUS fits perfectly! Regarding Jamie Woon, for me his songs simply have more substance, they are less cold (so I can listen to them even in the summer :)) and above all they don't have that feeling of "unresolved tension" that Blake's compositions have (it might be his characteristic, but after a while zzzzz....). @Holdsworth: for me, Kode9's new one was slightly below expectations, maybe because people were expecting too much from him. Some artists are condemned to keep raising the bar higher and higher, otherwise they are quickly labeled as out of ideas or finished. And now excuse me, but I'm heading to my porch with a bottle of bourbon to enjoy the sunset and strum an old blues by Charley Patton.

How much unjustified hype around James Blake. A rather boring album, and then someone who gets known to the general public with a cover (the Feist track is nice in itself, it’s not like Blake put in all that effort), already says a lot about how many bullets he has left to fire. I also prefer Jamie Woon; "Mirrorwriting" now that's a proper album!

No way, the review deserves a solid 5, both for how it's written and the emotions it evokes, and for the rediscovery of the CD in question. Of their 4 albums, this is the one I prefer, precisely because it's more cohesive, mature, and infinitely classy.
