Yes, but he's right. As for Ratzinger, I don't know; I won't say anything.

Yes, yes, let me explain better: disgust for the pedophile, pity for the victims, and also so much anger. However, revenge is a prerogative or a luxury of those who have truly experienced the misfortune of having a child, grandchild, etc. raped or even killed by a pedophile.

Sorry for the mistakes in the previous post, fidia. I wanted to add that the film presents many points of view on the issue of pedophilia, and I'm surprised that even today, when psychiatry and criminology have made significant strides and there is much more information regarding pedophiles, many people still advocate for lynching just like in the film. But that was 1931, and they weren't as understanding back then as they are today. A friend of mine, a psychologist, "justifies" them by saying that in 90% of cases, a pedophile has also suffered sexual violence at a young age. And when he talks about it to friends, it always stirs up a sea of controversies :-)

Indeed, Fidia remembers that during the summary trial a woman says to the lawyer: "It's clear you don't have children. Do you want to know how it feels? Ask a mother what she would do to the killer. Do you really think she would have pity for him?" I too confess that I have sometimes wanted to take a pedophile in my own hands and smash his head in, but these are reactions driven only by disgust and pity. In the past, I’ve wondered what the parents of the victims of the monster of Marcinelle felt. I believe it’s too emotionally charged a topic to discuss with clarity. On the other hand, personal opinions about what a pedophile is and what to do with him greatly depend on the upbringing received, cultural background, ethnicity, and religion. There are countries where pedophilia is considered “normal,” accepted. I know that in the USA they seem to have tried to castrate some, but it doesn’t help; the impulse to molest remains. Poletti: When I referred to seminal, I meant that it gave rise to a new cinematic genre, not that I was referring to the expressionist movement, which was on its last legs after the 1920s.

nickghostdrake, nice anecdote... it seems to me that Pope M has no idea who Fritz Lang is.
nofake and +)xAx(- (punisher) I was waiting for you..... to the first one, I reply that if he had read the review, he would have noticed that I reiterate in almost every way that M should be considered the progenitor of the thriller genre. Or should I take it to mean that he is unaware of the meaning of the word seminal? I suggest a dictionary. To the other one, instead, I suggest really watching the film and also some other good old-school thrillers to answer the question for himself.

Of course, all these quotes about gongs, Zappa, Ozric Tentacles really draw me in. A very nice and personalized review. I like it when a reviewer shares their everyday life without going overboard.
