Think about it, some of my programmer friends struggle when dealing with the French. They translate everything while the rest of the world in IT uses English! But damn, my friends had to adapt to them, you know? What a load of crap!! :-DD

deneil, you are right, but I was referring to the reviewer. I would have kept the original title. I know that there was hesitation before; now English has indeed become our second language. I found it funny in France to see shows like CSI translated as Les espérts (I apologize if I spelled the French wrong, but I can't get the accents right). But the French, you know... are the eternal rivals of the English and are even more nationalistic than they are.

I wanted to say Gilliam, with Brazil as well, of course. Giorgioladisa, in my opinion, the English language is less pompous, verbose, and more immediate, musical, and concise than Italian. That's why I prefer it, but it's a personal, subjective thing.

I quote ghemison, Gillian has produced one of the best science fiction films of the last 20 years. Even the questionable cast, like Brad Pitt or Bruce Willis, works.

ah first occult, when I said: I talk about science fiction and lighter, less avant-garde content. I was referring to aliens and star wars, not to the films of Kubrick or Tarkovsky. Those also go beyond the discourse of science fiction, and I don't think there are doubts about that.

I’ve never seen that before and I’m starting to regret it bitterly!! I’ll take care of it right away 1 :-)))

And then his remakes don't make you miss the originals much, in my opinion. Not to forget the remake of Invasion of the Body Snatchers by Abel Ferrara, a director who, with science fiction, you'd say, seems light years away.

Well, yes, Carpenter's merit is in drawing inspiration from B-movie classics, using B-movie methods and style, often even the cast. That man is genius; he does everything himself, or at least he used to until not long ago, as far as I know. Old-fashioned handcrafted special effects, and his scores are always beautiful and fitting for his films.

The true mass mainstreaming, in my opinion, occurs with Star Wars, even if it's a type of science fiction that I detest. And anyway, since the early '80s, as you say, science fiction in cinema has evolved, taking as models films by the directors we've mentioned.

The father of science fiction is George Méliès, not Lang.
