Nice review. However, I must respectfully disagree.

"Do one thing, Ethos, read carefully what you wrote and try to take a mea culpa if you possess a minimum of critical sense and objectivity, as you claim to have from a musical perspective..” Well, Fidia, I think you’re right. The day before yesterday, while posting the comment, I was perhaps a bit "wired" due to personal reasons, so I apologize to anyone who might have been offended by my words. I just want to add that in any case, I respect personal opinions and I don’t consider myself objective in my analyses at all. I don’t hate any culture or subculture, and any decade is essentially just as valuable as another, in my view. Go make yourself a nice chamomile tea.

If you, Mr. Tyler Durden, are one of those nostalgic people who dance to the sound of Just Like Heaven or dust off worthless bands simply because they originated or operated in a year with "8" as the third digit, don't take it out on those who, evidently, have different tastes and are only interested in good music and not in gaudy pseudo-dark culture. I also take this opportunity to respond to the first ridiculous comment by Fidia, who may have a pallid complexion and a charisma reminiscent of Count Varney, but who has managed in just three and a half lines to demonstrate that he understands nothing about music, claiming that there are only "clichés [according to which] the Xymox copied from the Sisters and other 80s bands"; or "thank goodness there was the best of," statements that speak for themselves.
If you like a band or are attached to them or whatever else, don’t bother those who, more clearly, try to analyze, with serenity and detachment, works that may be excellent, as in this case, but of terrible ensembles.
A plea for the forum: from now on, please avoid posting trivialities. Thank you.

Mr. Tyler Durden, I am not familiar with your musical inclinations, but I dare to imagine them. Nevertheless, I strongly recommend you use more careful language and educate yourself better on what you intend to discuss. The first album by Clan Of Xymox is from 1985, self-titled. I neither know nor want to know previous singles, rarities, mini EPs, and other stuff for frustrated collector dark kids. I am interested in reviewing a damn album, and I don’t care about what members of this utterly negligible and banal group published to become famous in '83 or '84 or 1965 so they could buy more sequins, black lipstick, and hairspray. For more information, you can refer to their official website, which is surely more informed than I am, and verify the validity of my statements before "spouting" judgments.

It's not in a derogatory sense. I love the eighties, but the definition doesn’t seem incorrect to me (perhaps approximate, sure, but definitely charming).

P.P.P.S. A nice review of In Vogue, Ghosts, or another collection by Japan? If you don’t do it, I’ll do it...
