I entrusted myself to Soul Seek to get it :-), for me it's John Cale's pinnacle, the best Cale, that is the gloomy and shadowy one, but also capable of melodies of chilling beauty like in "Chinese Envoy." You're right about his voice, truly unique, perhaps the voice of fear; I think it's the most fitting review for such a black monolith. After all, even after so many years, I still can’t make sense of a record like this.
