To Mike76: Look, "Songs of Faith..." was heavily promoted by MTV back in the day, the only triumph of this album is having been number 1 in the UK and the USA. For the rest, DM were one of the groups that strayed from the purely commercial genre... they were played on alternative radio, and even those stations were scared to play them because their lyrics were thought to be sadomasochistic, blasphemous, perverse... so I'm sorry, but you're mistaken (without any hard feelings). Second point: do you know the difference between "People are People" and "Precious"? The former was recorded in the temple of industrial music, Hansa Mischraum in Berlin, by the trio Wilder-Jones-Miller, the latter, just like the entire album of the black angel, is a hurried afterthought for stars from New York and Santa Barbara. It doesn't even come close to the high standards of "Some Great Reward," which I also recommend to younger listeners because it’s an album that shows you can make music with just some pots, a blender, a rock, and a ledge. An educational album, "Some Great Reward." Bye!

Ale, I absolutely do not want to be biased about the flaws of Depeche, who have also fallen prey to MTV and various networks, awards, and all sorts of crap... As for your reviews, I repeat, it all started from 101, but then we cleared things up beautifully, and after all, you did review the right things for the 101 CD. I thank Ago for the trust (too much) and I want to tell him that he writes very well (I don’t know how old he is). I dream of a review like that. The only reason I gave you a 3 instead of a 5 (which you deserve because you show you love them while also being objective) is that you could have expressed more about the rest of the album, which is unknown to most but is very beautiful. Nevertheless, you did what you had to do. In fact, I have always bored people and annoyed them with my opinions, while you were spot on. As I was already saying to Ale, I am too "emotional" and therefore never cold regarding every single burp this band has gifted us over the years. They have meant a lot to me, especially when music, in the '80s, except for rare exceptions, no longer fascinated me. Bye.

The peak (you didn't say a bullshit) is Violator. Review: "I feel you" and "Walking in my shoes", but also "In your room" described very well, the rest a bit brushed over (something to avoid). So, 3.

The tracklist is closed by a cover of "Enjoy the Silence" by Depeche Mode. I must admit I appreciated the version by Lacuna Coil, which is really spot on in the verses, unlike the original that has never conveyed anything to me. But come on!

I didn't mean to say that the new generation is all bad. On the contrary. I'm glad there are passionate young people like you who review DM. I simply mean that the ability to grasp nuances seems to have been lost (maybe I'm being too pedantic), like, I don't know, Martin and Dave shyly looking into each other's eyes during "Behind the Wheel," or the first "wheat field" in "Never Let Me Down Again," scenes that are unlikely to be repeated in the history of music. You rightly countered that people don't care about the girl screaming in Blasphemous Rumours. I can't disagree with you. But it saddens me to think about this "losing the little nuances of music." I'm getting older, and a certain melancholy accompanies me. Anyway, I didn't want to point fingers too much, and please promise me at least to keep listening to good music like the Depeche because you'll only gain from it. Bye!

If you tell me that you reviewed the CD, I can forgive you a few things, but the review doesn’t specify that. I have been a fan of Depeche Mode since 1982; I bought the legendary VHS of 101 and recently the DVD. The CD is missing many things, the boys who follow them, their arrival in California, 101 is not a normal concert as you wrote at the beginning of your review. These scenes will remain unforgettable: youtube.com/watch?v=MjjZiCAsWjM&mod e=related&search=, everything else is lacking… and anyway, no offense, you could have done a better job with the review. In the previous message, I didn’t mean to offend you but only to express my opinion on a generation, yours, which seems too superficial to me. Bye.
