I'm sorry to say this, but this is truly an embarrassing record. The rating would be 1.5.
The Pogues If I Should Fall From Grace with God

Stunning, it competes excellently with Rum, Sodomy & The Lash.
Wilson Pickett Hey Jude

I also recommend both works from 1966, The Exciting Wilson Pickett and The Wicked Pickett.

You can't always pull out born in the usa (which I don't like at all, but it needs to be understood in the context of its time, when some of his peers were releasing even worse records) as a benchmark to evaluate Springsteen's career, who has shown quite a bit of consistency even after that album, even though he hasn't managed to replicate those great heights, excluding, in my view, the ghost of tom joad. Certainly, the last two albums are almost entirely forgettable, and now he's getting caught up in purely commercial choices that he had rejected even during his commercial triumph, decisions that are clearly opportunistic (Super Bowl, etc.) and that provide easy fodder for his critics.

I would like to purchase this volume; I had let it slip by me some time ago.

And then what does New Age have to do with it... certain outbursts actually make me smile :D

Stricnina, it seems to me that Van Zandt said that Racing In The Streets is one of the greatest songs of all time, in addition to having covered it. Anyway, they were two giants, incomparable in my opinion.

Alright, come on J&R, you can't compare wonder to that kind of songwriting; they're totally different things, and I clearly prefer the names you mentioned, but some comparisons are really forced and misleading.

I completely agree with imasoulman.

The genre may clearly not be to everyone's taste and it's not exactly my favorite, but this is a superb album, nothing like mere pop songs.
