Oh, but in the end, reading the reviews, it seems that Nu-Metal is only made by Slipknot, who emerged in '99, when Nu-Metal was already well established. Nu-Metal is just a way to group together bands that took the heavier parts of early '90s Crossover. You only hear "No, they don't do Nu-Metal," almost as if to say "No, they don’t suck." Is Nu-Metal a disease? Korn do Nu-Metal, SOAD do Nu-Metal, Deftones (the first and second) did Nu-Metal, Snot did Nu-Metal, Amen do Nu-Metal, Atreyu do Nu-Metal, Soulfly do Nu-Metal, and they're all great bands. Just because someone is good doesn’t mean they don't do Nu-Metal. What about the bands that created it? Machine Head, Fear Factory, Biohazard – are they crap? Slipknot are just the HEAVIEST part of the NU scene; they are not THE nu. Then there are also 100,000 crappy bands, but just because Muse suck doesn't mean they play alternative rock while Radiohead are good and therefore don’t play alternative rock; one does it well and the other doesn’t. Damn, it must be the 100th review of a Nu band where it says "they don't do Nu," and what is that? A Mazurka?

Yes, but "they do Dumb Heavy Rock inspired by the principles of punk lyrics...with the typical musical arrangements of American Heavy Metal" in the end what the heck does that mean? It means Nu-Metal, alternative Metal, whatever you want, we're still there. It seems that Nu-Metal means crap. Damn, the System do Nu-metal. If you want to call it something else, I don't know, Metal of the new millennium, go ahead. I don't like Toxicity, it's a drag, all the same with the sappy stuff that doesn't belong, and the SOAD live SUCK, a band that's all studio and no substance. Amen and Atreyu are a joke.
