"I have no cards, no interests, I don't get paid to say this, and I don't have friends to please or applaud!" ---> Wise words. If only all journalists and hosts were like this. It's a pity that the sponsors of these films and similar things are all the "members"... IntelleTTUALLS on the left, morettian intelleTTUALLS, intelleTTUALLS who go to Marzullo... In short, all of them. The trouble with Italy is the intellectuals, not the unaware ignoramuses who don't know what they're saying and doing.

Oh, can you review all the films by Diego Abatantuono for me, please?

"Here, if I really have to find something positive, I see only one thing in all this, just one but of huge importance and not to be underestimated: Christmas comes once a year" --> Thank goodness! If it were up to me, there shouldn't even be that one time a year :-D. Uncle P, however, this rubbish of a movie, like all those made recently by Nino D'Angelo, is great for a good laugh. I love feeling trashy.

Cute little film, especially for a good laugh, like in the scene where Spud dumps shit on the faces of his fiancée's relatives. The book... well: the Italian version wasn't exactly a masterpiece, neither in realism nor anything else. Perhaps the only reliable version of Welsh's work is in the Scottish dialect, because it should actually reproduce the language of this faux-dandy youth slice. Then the comparison between film and book always arises spontaneously, as the same promotional mechanism for films often relies on the little phrase "based on the novel of the same name by...". At that point, when you discover the book is beautifully written (see "The Human Stain" by Philip Roth) and the film is a garish mess ("The Human Stain" by Robert Benton), it really gets under your skin...

@ Nofake: yes, I’m so tender that I cut myself like a breadstick, like a slice of Callippo tuna :-D! Mavvà. Anyway, I think Mike76 was referring to things like this: "In the '90s, the rising AIDS pandemic was viewed by the sect of the Ten Commandments and countless other religious groups as a punishment from God inflicted upon sinners..."; to other passages from Leviticus that are taken literally to claim that AIDS is the rightful punishment for sodomites and fornicators... In short, AIDS would be a new plague of Egypt. This according to sources whose reliability is yet to be verified (I don’t want to spout nonsense). Galas was firmly against that kind of Church that prohibits the use of contraceptive methods, that condemns homosexuals (like the Anglican Church did a few years ago), and that was very careful not to take a scientific and rational approach to issues like AIDS. Such considerations, if made now, might seem trivial, since everyone is currently criticizing the Grand Chancellor Josephinho Raztinger. But back in '89, when Galas was doing this, it was not ordinary to take on the Church... so... And especially not everyone gets arrested in St. Patrick's Cathedral in New York while staging a horror theater on AIDS.
