Rick Wakeman Live EstivalJazz @ Lugano 02.07.2009

Pibroch gets confused, it was Estival Jazz until last year, now it's just Estival, also because in the last six years they’ve invited more prog bands than jazz ones. The play on words is absurdly ridiculous and pathetic.

A great album, very original and at times pastoral (the beginning of Secondo Tempo), with a deep introspective quality. The Fourth Movement is Bach-like. If I'm not mistaken, both www.progarchives.com and the back cover of the CD mention the guitarist Enrico Rosa without the "La." The cover is "infilzosamente" macabre. They almost resemble ancient representations of the Ottoman Turks.

In my humble opinion, Dream Theater ended with Metropolis Part 2: Scenes From a Memory. Right now, they seem quite caught in a vortex from which they can't escape, characterized by excessive technicality at the expense of a good compositional outcome.

Uhm... "Black Clouds & Silver Linings" for me represents a worthy sequel to Systematic Chaos, in the sense that it's an album that continues along the same spiral: technical prowess, skill, at the expense of compositional fantasy, resulting in a good dose of weariness.

Really well written, congratulations. They are now in a dead-end tunnel. I’ll stick my neck out and say that the next 10 albums will be like this, just like this.

I just heard it a few days ago and I fully agree with the review. A unique hassle. They ended in the '90s, with the excellent Metropolis Part II: Scenes From a Memory.

Great review, a really nice album this one, truly Italian space rock, arguably comparable to Hawkwind.
