Well done Yosif. It's nice to see electronic album reviews on the homepage! As you may have noticed, they're not very popular on Debaser. But you definitely have my support. I haven't listened to the album, but from your description, it seems to be a forerunner of the "Buddha Bar" series by Claude Challe and his followers. These latter ones, starting from 1999-2000, rode the wave so much and squeezed the genre dry that in the end, they managed to nauseate even the true enthusiasts. They've flooded the music market with all the same compilations, sinking and inflating the genre. Thank goodness they’ve stepped out of the way now! (Every now and then they still churn out some compilation, unfortunately)

This is vol. 3 of the "Recomposed" series. The first was released in 2005, produced by Matthias Arfmann and focused on downtempo reinterpretations of classical music from the DG catalog. The same operation was carried out in vol. 2, curated by Jimi Tenor, but with a nu-jazz twist. So this process of contamination had already begun some time ago.

Dear Cynic, Incognito are close to Jamiroquai but very different from Atjazz. Try listening to something by Jazzanova, Dzihan & Kamien, 4 Hero, Kyoto Jazz Massive… etc., if you’re not familiar with them. Bye and congratulations on your choice of album.

The album is one of my favorites in the genre. It's not exactly acid jazz; it's more tilted towards breakbeat and deep house. Acid jazz was made by Jamiroquai, Incognito, Brand New Heavies, etc., and there was much less electronica. Anyway, my favorite track from the album is "All That."
