Yes, it loses a bit of pathos, but maybe it takes on an even more poignant air in Cash's version; it could almost have been written by him... a myth now, I believe, in his seventies, and his despair for the approaching end... have you seen him in the video? trembling but still basically the same... in the last album there’s also a cover of "Personal Jesus" by Depeche Mode with Frusciante accompanying him... I’ve never heard the version with Bowie... but if you tell me it’s phenomenal, I’ll look for it...
