Here is an interview with Cattelan no title particularly the part that concerns children: “It is not a monumental work but it will evoke fear and will probably be deemed excessive. It is an intervention on the theme of childhood, which for me is a space of freedom and at the same time a place of abuse and violence. But it is also the future, and therefore it is a reflection on what is happening around us. It is a kind of pillory that represents the sense of violence that I feel everywhere.”
There was much anticipation for this work that becomes part of Cattelan's artistic theater - which includes, besides the Pope, also Hitler, stuffed animals, and mechanical children - and the market valuations, which spark attention and discussions among the audience. Maurizio Cattelan is well aware of this and recounted: “You try to keep reflections on the valuations of your work out of your head because they trap you. You feel responsible because every time you present something new, there’s pressure: you have to live up to expectations. But if you only think about this, you won’t move forward. You need to be free from anything, money, style. The challenge is to free yourself from yourself.”

Cattelan has always made me laugh; I really appreciate the sense of estrangement he manages to provoke. Among my favorites are 'bidibidobidiboo', the suicidal squirrel, and 'the ninth hour' with Wojtyla downed by the meteorite.
