In fact, I exaggerated in describing them as ragged; the little trumpet appears only in "Heave Ho." This is guitar-driven ROCK!

The album is spectacular, like all the others by Fugazi! I want to mention "Last Chance for a Slow Dance," spine-tingling, where you can notice Picciotto’s unconventional singing style, which follows the melody yet feels detached at the same time. Smallbox Champion is also beautiful: right-out right-out right-out right-out right-out right-out right-out right-out!!!! The review is a bit lacking, it talks about the album for 5 lines and then goes on about things that have little to do with the music. Anyway, kudos to the reviewer for adding a review that was missing from the DeBaser catalog :)

I'm sorry, it was absolutely not a "pulling your leg." I meant if you could recommend something interesting that Crosby, Stills, and Nash have done on their own, you know, maybe some special track that made you love them. I'll be happy with your response, thanks :)

Great review, I read it in one go. It's always interesting to hear original opinions, even if I don't completely agree with you. "Devils & Dust" commercial? Surely "Born To Run" and "Born in the USA" were. I also don't agree with the notion of a decline in recent years: I found "The Ghost of Tom Joad" amazing and "The Rising" a bit predictable, but moving. I don't like "Devils & Dust" either, and certainly the Boss seems tired and a bit bored.

If I'm being completely honest, I don't really know Crosby, Stills, and Nash that well. Can you recommend something to listen to, just to give me an idea?

I voted for the album instead of the review, damn it. It got a 4 without me ever having listened to it!

Ah, the ratings. The review is nice but it doesn't seem very comprehensive and has some awkwardness ("is THIS the magic of THIS record"). I don’t know the album so I’ll pass on voting. My vote for Dejà Vu is 2 (if that’s of any interest to you...)

I want to go against the tide: I don't know this album but I know Dejà Vu well, and I don't like it. It's certainly a classy album, pleasant to listen to and fairly varied, but it doesn't move me; it feels so pompously bucolic... fake. It gives me the impression of a showcase where the four artists are trying to stand out for their songwriting skills or their interpretation. A great album from those years: "Tonight's The Night" by Neil Young, now that's sincere and moving; CSN&Y leave me indifferent and I don't think CSN is much different (besides, it lacks the best of the four!). I'm judging without having listened to it, so feel free to hit me if I'm wrong :)

I’m listening to MellonCollie again and I like it more than the last time I heard it.

Sanjuro, can I recommend a band that you might like? They are called "Cows" and they play post-hardcore, not ultra-fast, but very original. A few days ago I sent a review of one of their albums (Cunning Stunts from '91) that should be out soon. You probably won't like the review, but I bet you will like the album :)
