David Lynch Twin Peaks 3x08
Voto:
I watched the first three episodes illegally and, for now, it seems better than any other TV series. Not that I've seen many, mind you. I’m not interested in overthinking Lynch; I just need to be impressed by his use of cinematic language. When it works, you expect anything to happen at any moment. For now, I’d say it’s like watching Inland Empire in episodes. With headphones, it’s terrifying (sound design by Lynch, I believe). I’m not reading the reviews to avoid spoilers.
The Dream Syndicate Out of the Grey

A nostalgic page but in my opinion not very objective. I see... I see: butterflies in my stomach! Ah, love. Long live the butterflies, of course, by the way I was in kindergarten in '86, but still, the other records are absolute bombs, this one is like a little firecracker we threw in the playground. DeMa, I heard the single just released: it’s a 11-minute psychedelic piece; it sounds a lot like Dream Syndicate, but in a new way. I really like it.
Squadra Omega Altri Occhi ci Guardano

@[ziltoid] Gold Record Grinder. I was wrong because luxury editions make me break out in hives and because I’m easily influenced and perpetually distrustful: it seems to me that black vinyl sounds better than colored ones. I’ll add two little things. 1) The painting, a 1977 work by a relative of Bordin (someone from the Squad), is spot on as the album cover; it has something ancestral about it, tinged with library music, as if it were a prog record recorded centuries ago. 2) The album is a labyrinth of the mind and the senses, and both reading about it yesterday and listening to it today, I thought of Borges and his concentric and different way of reasoning (from mine). Then I looked and BAM!: on the last side, there are the Ruins of Circular.

The thing I like about this album, compared to other Squadra Omega, is that they've implemented a meticulous job of cut and paste, hammer and chisel, starting from the live recordings, to give it a more studio album structure. In short: it's undoubtedly less free, less crazy than others. And yet, at its core, there are always the improvised jams from incredibly talented musicians. Yo, I'm keeping the vinyl (by Macina Dischi): tomorrow when I get home I'll check if there's any note to add.

With their debut, it was love at first sight, and consequently, the album reviewed here is the one I’ve listened to the most lately. And already a little problem arises: I remember very little about it. How is that possible? Is it because I subscribed to Google Play Music? Should I get the vinyl? Too much expectation? I don’t think so; it’s probably just less special. Nevertheless, it remains my favorite album from the last few months alongside the MoRkObOt (who are amazing).
Mastodon Emperor of Sand

High on Fire for life. I mean, can you compare? Can you compare with Neurosis? Dear Mastodon, you have the numbers but you don't dare enough! And I would appreciate less prog (that would be a personal favor). Sultan's Curse starts off great but, I don't know, it loses the way, then I turned it off after track 2: I've already listened to enough Mastodon albums.
The Residents Not Available

No, I meant to say that the first reviews of Battle, those metal ones, I remember them. They were written in correct Italian and made complete sense.

Great review that, in my opinion, has the flaw of wanting to find the "scoop" at all costs. Nunziata from Ondarock has written some of the most indefensible things you can find on the internet (regarding music), definitely on par with some nonsense seen on DeB; however, I went to check out the page in question and it's not that bad, really.

I don’t know if I’m just overwhelmed or if I’ve slept too little: I didn’t get anything from this review. The album is gooood, Rocket Recordings is a guarantee, and Capra Informis are better than Goat. Haloah

Damn, my sister the psychologist says this might almost seem like a midlife crisis! I have something like that—I think—but I clear my conscience by working with Ufomammut blasting at five-thirty in the morning alongside wolves and wild boars. And sometimes at work, I feel like Nicholas Cage in Bringing Out the Dead, but usually, I don't. I don’t do drugs, but I can’t remember the Elders; I just recall traveling with Lore alongside the wolves and wild boars. Or: I can’t remember Inland Empire, but it seems to me that Twin Peaks 3 is Inland Empire in episodes. Wino 2017 is a good year for Wino: at worst, it sounds like a bad copy of Iron Maiden, at best Jug Fulla Sun.
