I finally listened to the album, downloaded from Soulseek at a good bitrate... listened to it four times and then tossed it in the trash: I felt like it was a hastily put-together album, poorly crafted, done in a rush, despite the overproduction. Or maybe precisely because of that. Corgan's voice sounded bored and unconvinced in several places. It still retains that bratty voice from the '90s, but now it comes off as clumsy and muddled, lacking the anger and reason for being... the effect is like Bette Davis in "What Ever Happened to Baby Jane?". But the worst thing (as with the two Machina albums and the Zwan album) is that it's a superficial record, too straightforward, too banal and predictable, lacking that whimsical depth, those shadows and that mystery that made the Pumpkins' albums special.
