I find (sorry for my strange opinion) Freddie Mercury very similar to Augusto Daolio, both with an amazing voice, both with their love for life, both expressing this love with truly meaningful and touching words, both dying young (to be precise, they both passed away at 45 years old, only Freddie died a year earlier).

Anyway, Italian music is not just made up of second-rate singers; there are also talented artists. Besides the already mentioned De André, Battiato, PFM, etc., we can find: I Nomadi, Guccini, Capossela, and many others. With this, I’m not trying to wave the flag of Italian music, but it doesn’t seem fair to generalize. Why do you think that English or American music is any different, that there aren’t the usual four degenerates there as well? And the Blue? And Duncan James? And Hilary Duff? (at least she’s nice), not to mention French rap, which in my opinion is truly pathetic; it’s like that wherever you go.
