Alice & Franco Battiato I Treni Di Tozeur / Le Biciclette Di Forlì
Voto:
Perhaps Battiato sometimes becomes too philosophical, but otherwise I love his lyrics, his songs, the way he interprets them. He has created a unique and personal style. I think that "finto snob" is not an appropriate definition. Battiato has never been snobbish just because he makes music that not everyone likes, very experimental, but I wouldn't define it as "complicated" or at least most of his songs are not.

The trains of Tozeur are stunning even though I know it from Battiato's version in "Mondi lontanissimi."

I'm sorry, vellutogrigio, but it doesn’t seem to me that an album like "A Night At The Opera" is just a gimmick or a "crazy commercialization." In fact, one could say it was very far from people's tastes; it was a very experimental album. Even the last album, Innuendo, I consider to be a complicated yet very beautiful work at times. In short, I don't know if you understand me: Queen have made a lot of commercial stuff (which doesn’t mean it’s bad as you say), some of it less successful and some not, but they have also created other music.

Sorry: I often think about how I would have rated that album if I hadn't known it was by Vasco OR IF I HAD KNOWN it was by an emerging singer or band.

I always think that one should judge an album without external influences, such as: they used to make great records. I often think about how I would evaluate that album if I didn't know it was by Vasco or that it was by an emerging singer or band.

I haven't listened to the whole album, but I really liked the title track "il mondo che vorrei," and honestly, I didn't expect that from Vasco. As for the other songs, I give a passing grade to "Colpa del whisky," I haven't listened to the others yet.

What you say is absolutely right; there must always be a critical spirit, but a critical spirit must be objective, judging the film impartially, which means not considering emotional value. I, who am not a critic, cannot do that; a film for me also means memories, situations, moments. It may not be a film that has anything special, but it stays with me. It's clear that a critic shouldn't do this because if I want to know how that film is and I read the review, I don’t care if it has emotional value for the critic. Anyway, you are right about the fact that even trash can be reassessed.

I hope I've made myself clear, don't misunderstand me, I'm not a proponent of trash cinema, absolutely not, although even that can vary: what is trash for me (forgive the slang) may not be for someone else. Who am I to say that a film is bad a priori just because I don't like it?

here, now I’ve let it all out.
