Domo, don't misunderstand me, I didn't say that The Strokes are manufactured, but that, as Joker said, they emerged more thanks to the god $ than for their own merits; and it wasn't me who brought up Green Day, but the reviewer himself. I respect that he considers The Strokes better than Green Day, although I absolutely disagree, but don't take me for the silly staunch defender of Green Day, because I'm not; rather, I'm someone who, like everyone, knows their obvious flaws, but like few here, also knows their merits, because they do have merits... could they have continued to play for 16 years without their own merits? I don't think so. That said, best regards to you.

@matt7: you're right, sorry.. I'm replying now: thank you for the comment, I appreciate it because you're one of the few who doesn't like him but doesn't give a 1 a priori to the review, I'm touched.

@ashanti: I put metal among the de-genres mostly as a courtesy towards them, since the album is called love metal.. :-) @dark shneider: tastes. @divodark: I’ll try to accommodate you, but you know how it is, I don’t know your tastes…

Domo, you’re probably right, but it wasn’t like that before. And anyway, American Idiot is way better than these little things.

@ED__D: "then from someone who listens to Green Day, please keep your McDonald's punk and go to bed"... we are short on topics, huh? listen, pretty boy: I never trashed you for listening to The Strokes, I made that clear right away; I gave your review a 1 because it's empty and pointless, not at all because you say The Strokes are better than Green Day or because you give it 5 stars, and then you come out with a galactic-sized bullshit about American music (ever heard of Queens of the Stone Age just to name one?). So, you better lower that ridiculous punk hairdo of yours and present yourself in a more acceptable way when discussing. By the way, for your information, I’ve been listening to Green Day for a long time, probably since you didn’t even know what a guitar was, because they’ve been around, for better or worse, for over 16 years, and a crappy little band doesn’t last 16 years (we’ll see if The Strokes will last even half that long..). Lastly, consider yourself privileged: yes, because I owe you no justification or explanation, but I’ll give you one anyway: I listen to a whole lot more besides Green Day, stuff that you, who thinks The Strokes and Green Day are the best of American music, probably can’t even imagine exists. I didn’t want to start a feud over such a small matter, but when an ignoramus like you comes to tell me to shut up, then you’ll understand why I’m pissed off... cordially.

@ED__D: do you have the slightest idea of what a Green Day album is? Especially the early ones, Dookie, Insomniac, Nimrod, and Warning? Spontaneous, immediate, real works. And American Idiot, so criticized for reasons that are valid and shareable (easy music, cliché chords, etc.), is definitely, in terms of artistic value, not just one but ten notches higher than these posers! What have they done? As Joker says, they are nothing more than a little group that emerged because a big record label saw them as a source of profit... they have very few merits of their own. I stand by my previous comment without any retractions.

a heartfelt angry review, but I can't give it more than a 3 in appreciation... honestly, this hit hasn't knocked me out yet; sure, I've heard it, I said 'what a mess' and when I hear it again, I run away.
