Marpado, don’t put words in my mouth that I didn’t say. I didn’t talk about emotions in relation to a certain type of music; my examples were general, and it seems at least tautological to state that I would never dare to speak well of Tokio Hotel or similar trinkets in my life. I simply say and reiterate, everyone should be free to listen to what they prefer: MTV and various trashy radio stations are just some of the many means we have today to obtain music or discover new ones, it really takes very little. If there are those who stop at what mainstream consumption offers them, it means that, for one reason or another, they have no interest in seeking more. Put simply and without the slightest tact, to quote a dear metalhead friend of mine: if someone listens to crap, it must mean they deserve it. Who are we to argue?

Look, Trimalchione, those who give speeches like yours always end up in the same naïve and pointless comparison with the greatest of all time. You bring up Led Zeppelin and their masterpieces to make me understand how extraordinary they are compared to Blink-182. Well, thank you very much, I agree, but what sense do these kinds of discussions make? If everyone thought this way, absurdly, music would have stopped with Led Zeppelin, because any subsequent band wouldn’t even pick up an instrument, since nothing they could potentially create would ever be as epochal as Led Zeppelin, and we would all end up listening exclusively to Led Zeppelin. But fortunately for us and for Led Zeppelin, the world works differently; there are different things, people listen to different things, and even those who praise Blink-182 (or Tokio Hotel) and have no idea who Led Zeppelin are have every right to say that what they listen to gives them a blessed adrenaline rush. This means that if they ever appreciate the solo in "Stairway to Heaven" for the first time, they might just drop dead from a heart attack—blessed be them.

Great review! Even though I'm no longer excited about the Marlene now, I would really love to see them live since I've never seen them (damnation!)

Yes... quite a useless review. She is truly the icon of the emptiness of certain characters who are artificially constructed and inflated. When I think of her hypothetical typical day, I am overwhelmed by a sense of solitude and compassion; in any case, she was a girl whose image, whose life has been used and destroyed. A silly girl like many others who dreams of becoming famous... maybe now, if they hadn't made her into what she is, she would be a normal person, vaguely happy in her insignificance. Instead, she must have realized the complete futility and emptiness of the life she has lived. I dread to think of how her poor child will grow up.

"...the music of all these gentlemen is clearly empty; it may be enjoyable, but it doesn’t convey any real emotion..." to you. I mean, how do you know if this music can actually communicate emotions to someone? No offense, but you don't have the means to understand the relationship that can be established between a person and a certain song, even if it’s triggered by an excessive hormonal rush—an emotion is still an emotion. Of course, it's easy to play on the easy listening, to dress up and pose according to the current fashion, and/or to exploit media resonance. The fact remains that these kids exist and are successful, which means that many people in the world are looking for their image as much as their music because that’s the type of expression they seek, no matter how much it might disgust you and me. So, in my opinion, it's not about real and fake emotions, but about easy, light emotions, even cleverly studied and manipulated in a certain way, yet nonetheless subjectively authentic. The fact that they don’t even know what they’re singing about is another story… ps: I read your comment where you compare these kids to the love rock (???) of HIM... I’m telling you as an expert, so trust me, you’re off track!
